I recommend a flush followed by a week of normal driving then bleed again. This isn't needed in normal maintenance flushes. Only on major teardowns where much of the fluid is out of the system. Also, be sure to flush the system at the clutch bleed nipple as well. I've sometimes had to flush it a few times to get all the air out. - Rich

I've sometimes had to flush it a few times to get all > the air out. We've been over this a couple of times here, but I'll mention it again. The only way I've ever been able to get a nice hard brake pedal after a flush (not a bleed) is with this process: 1) bleed brakes AND CLUTCH (it's on the left side of the transmission bell housing, about half way up the side) 2) take the car out and stomp on the brakes until the ABS triggers 3) go back and bleed the brakes and clutch again - Mark '95 M3 '97 528i 5-spd E30 M3 WANTED ---- Mark Dadgar - Product Manager, Accessories (650) 230-5037 voice - (650) 230-2100 fax mdadgar@handspring.com - Handspring, Inc. Twisty asked (perhaps tongue in cheek) - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any idea what kind of street/highway/canyon road mileage one would get out of these R-compounds? During the summer only (can't imagine them being good rain tires;)) would it be worth the $70 savings per tire? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ They should have plenty of tread to get you to and from your local tire dealer every time you change your oil (if you change it often). I normally get 4 - 5 track weekends out of a set at about 500 miles a weekend. Even if you get twice as much wear from not going full out, that's only 5000 miles a set. Additionally, as the tires will pick up every piece of crud on the street when they are hot, you will have to use mudflaps from getting rock scratches behind the wheels, and may cut a tire on the crud that sticks. On the plus side, they do look particularly bad-ass. John Jones 98 ///M3-4 (stickies only on weekends, like this one)

#9. [E36M3] Help Transmission Problem - from SLINKIMAN@aol.com
Top
Date: Fri, 7 Apr 2000 18:06:09 EDT From: SLINKIMAN@aol.com Subject: [E36M3] Help Transmission Problem I need some help. Last weekend I started to hear a whine coming from my transmission. It happened mainly in 1st gear when I was coasting and was the most obvious with the clutch in. I brought the car into bmw and they told me that I needed to replace the transmission. Today when the car was supposed to be done they told me that it wasnt going to be under warranty and that they were waiting for an ok to fix it. They say they will not warranty the car because it looks like the car has been driven over aggresively and abused. When I asked what was wrong with the transmission they said they had not oppened it and that it was making a noise. Has anyone had this problem? What can I do about it? Thanks Brian 99M3
