#2. WTB LR taillight assembly - from Jones, John

Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2000 10:46:43 -0400 From: "Jones, John" <JJones@INTERGEN.com> Subject: WTB LR taillight assembly You know who you are, you carcissist. You look at your car as you walk away from it in a parking lot. You gaze at its reflection in storefront glass, as you roll slowly by. You take two parking spaces. You couldn't stand the sight of those "Ugly American" amber turn signals on your Bavarian Werken of Arten, and stuck amber bulbs into an overpriced set of clear Euro-blinkers. Myyyyy, aren't we cosmopolitan? Aren't we European? Look at us, we have clear blinkers like the Accords... Well, it isn't cosmopolitan or European to have a cluttered garage (I'm sorry, "car park"), and I am here to help you out. Due to an unfortunate parking lot incident, I am in need of a left rear taillight assembly for a 98 e36m3. Let me know if you can part with one. TIA, John "The Ugly American" Jones 98 ///M3-4, taillight broken within 2 hours of getting my state inspection.

I just installed my new set of gauges from Eastern Motorwerks. The fit and finishe is very nice and it comes complete with everything you need including the sending units and a wiring harness for alot less money than the other stuff on the market. Check them out at www.easternmotorwerks.com. I don't work for them, I just don't think anyone should have to pay for the other expensinve stuff out there. I should have pics by tuesday if anyone wants them. regards, JOHN ===== ///M3's and Jet Skis/// __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send online invitations with Yahoo! Brian has confessed! Let me clarify for those who might actually care. I do not skip gates and have not since I blew up my engine in 1998. If I'm really in a hurry I may go through the gate but not let out the clutch. But I never skip a gate. Never! Cheers! Michael

Chiang" <Mike@archondev.com> Subject: Re: R&T on Oil Stravation For a data point I forgot to mention in the orginal auto-x posting ; I usually find that even an extra 1/2 qt. will do the trick. I did an event the day after an oil change and forgot to add the extra bit. After 2 runs, my car was ticking something pretty fierce. Just half a bottle of Mobil 1 added, and the thing shut up within 15 seconds. YMMV. ....and I've always just left it in. Seems to me that BMW's engineers would design a small 'idiot zone' of safety for overfilling. Mike

Yes, you keep them facing the same direction (there's a stamped arrow which points forward). Neil 96 M3 - BTDT

Jones, John wrote: > Sean wrote: > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > moral: find a good alignment place FIRST. > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > Very true. > Yup. It really, really, REALLY, helps if you know that the owner or chief mechanic has a race car. If you can find that, you can be sure they know how to do an alignment. I use Curry's Auto in VA. You have to realize though that many cars can't be aligned to the last ..1 degree. Unless you've got fairly fresh ball joints, shocks, strut bearings, etc., there will be some play. How often they have to be replaced depends on the type of driving you do. I had to replace my lower control arms last time I went in for an alignment. Sweating the last .1 degree when the car needs other work and will go that much off or more as soon as it rolls off the rack is a bit pointless. If you want perfect alignments, better have your car in perfect shape. -- Ron Katona

I used 10-14 gauge taps & had to double loop the wires to get them to establish connection. Also to make sure & give yourself some slack on the wire so you don't come up too short. Lastly, did I mention you'd be working with thin wires? Hope this helps...
