What I mean is since sachs does not make regular springs (or any for that matter) for our M3 then who did what where when and how. THe only coil springs sachs sells for the M3 is the coilover kit in which case Eibach makes the springs for them anyway. Cheers, Jim E. That's still more understeer than stock but a whole lot better than 1.49. Does anyone know if it's possible to get only rear race springs? I put mine on and it sure is a lot better looking in stealth black: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/images/stopper3.jpg ....better than compared to that competing door stop thing in stop sign red: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/clutch_stop/pics_clutch/clutch_stop_sm.jpg Like who wants to draw attention to their clutch stop? Question for materials geeks: does it really seem like solid metal? It's hard to tell! I thought maybe it was an ultra hard Acetal (like Delrin), but it doesn't feel like it....its surface doesn't give a bit under sharp fingernail pressure, even on the thread edges. Maybe it's some esoteric material 12,000 PSI tensile strength plastic like Dupont Zytel Nylon 66 ? (Titanium by contrast is about 50,000 PSI). There are about 50 versions of Zytel...from 5-50% glass fiber reinforced to also include flame retardent versions. Hell, who knows..I'm sure Ron wouldn't want to share how he got the thing made, or what it's made of, and I'm not going to ask him. But that sure is some awesome materials engineering in that one little bolt!! So, anybody ever compare/contrast using the UUC Delrin shifter bushings with the bronze BMP bushings? I'm about ready to drop in a new clutch in the 86k mile '95 M3 and replace all worn shifter parts. Anyone have a complete list of BMW and aftermarket part numbers to do a through clutch and shifter overhall they would like to share? I'll gladly aggregate any partial submissions and repost them if asked. - Skip > > I never thought something as simple as a clutch stop would interest me > enough that I would bother trying to make my own, pay someone else to > make it for me or even buy a production version. > > Well that all changed today. #8. Report on my TC Kline Suspension-Long - from Steve Hazard

Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 15:05:12 -0400 From: Steve Hazard <SHazard@nhboston.com> Subject: Report on my TC Kline Suspension-Long Well after a year of research I decided to invest in a TC Kline/ProParts RaceLine C/O suspension package. Cha Ching! Ouch, very expensive but worth every penny! The package consists of the H&R 60MM race springs, Coilover Kit, and the Double Adjustible Koni's. I also purchased the Camber/Caster Plates from them at the same time. Last, I had the Ground Control RSM's put in also. After waiting 5-6 weeks for them to build the kit it finally arrived last week. I had it installed last Friday. Install took sometime, and the alignment also. The car sits quite lower. The rear C/O's are set at their highest setting. Looks like a 1 1/4" drop in the rear and a 1 3/4" drop up front...maybe a tad less than that. Camber is set at 3 degrees front, 2 degrees rear. 7 degrees of caster with zero toe up front and just a tick of toe in the rear. The TC Camber plates allow for Caster changes which is very important when bumping camber up.... The car is still a daily driver.....<VBG>So how does it drive? The front end is delicious the rear is another story. Over moderate + bumps the rear can bang some....Since it's a coilover I'm going to swap in the rear Sport Springs for the street and then swap the Race springs in for each Auto X and track day.....This should fix the harshness in the rear end.....The car tracks perfect even on badly crowned roads. The increased Caster and even Camber side to side up front does the trick. Last year I tried the swapped hats and ended up with 2.1 Camber RF, and 2.5 Camber LF....The car hunted all over the place and was a real bear to drive. Hows it handle? Turn in is ultra sharp, body roll is almost nil, understeer is mild now in constant radius corners. Autocrossed on Sunday and it was an animal...It ate up the course. The cars slip angles are wonderful and with the UUC sways going on this weekend and with some minor adjustments to the Bump and Rebound settings on the Koni's this rig is going to be perfect. The beauty of this whole package are the Koni's. Bump adjustment is at the bottom of the shocks and Rebound is at the tops. At the end of a day of track, or Autocross I simply turn the Koni's back to the street setting...With just a few clicks I can promote, more or less understeer. SInce I've been instructing at Autocrosses for about three years now I've sat in or driven lots of High performance cars and over the last year or so many BMW's. Many of the BMW's had various spring and shock combinations. None of them offer the flexibility this one does for both street and performance driving. ProParts must have spent quite a few man hours dialing in the Koni's to work with the H & R springs because right out of the box this kit is dead on fun. ProParts has several other suspension kits available. The one that might work for many folks is the RaceLine kit with Sport Springs and Adj Koni's. It's not a C/O kit and either the Race, or Sport springs can be used. Many thanks to Bob Tunnell, and Jim Leithauser at ProParts for all their help answering my questions regarding this setup. I'm looking forward to ESP now! Next write up will be on the BimmerWorld Cool Brake Kit.... Hope everyone is enjoying their M3's....I am.... You should make sure that you can point out exactly where that sticker is and that it is legible. If you can't find it quickly or they can't read it you will be charged the $300 smog impact fee and they will "give you a refund once you find/clean it". Also, the car must be smogged *before* you go to the DMV. I went from .8 to .9 degrees to 1.3 to 1.4 degrees negative camber, so a half degree of additional negative camber. It has really helped the car on the autox course. However, there is still a lot of discussion on its legality for SCCA stock class. If there was an associated technical bulletin, then it would be a no brainer legality wise. I guess we will find out nationals this year in the protest shed... I have noticed slightly more tire wear on the inside shoulder after 4K miles, but nothing to worry about (I typically get 30K miles on street tires, Pilot's or S02's). I run a pretty aggressive toe setting, from zero to just slightly toed out. -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
