I just called to see if my dealership had this part number in stock and they don't BUT they claim these are for older cars only... No mention of any E36 cars on the list. Jim's right on the money here......anytime you break the beads replace your valve stems......I do request metal one though...just some added insurance to appease my track safety paranoia...... Regards, Steve The biggest failure point for valve stems in my opinion is cheap SOBs not replacing them everytime they break the tire bead. The rubber ages and is damaged by ozone. The valve inside gets rusted or frozen in winter by water in the air from cheap compressors without driers. There are zillions of Plain Jane valve stems out there. I think this is a non issue. What I DO think can happen is that solid steel valve stems (externally at least) can resist impacts with crap on the road and track better.

#9. [E36M3] AC making grinding noises. - from Anthony Le

Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 14:07:25 -0500 From: Anthony Le <anthony.le@wcom.com> Subject: [E36M3] AC making grinding noises. All, It's getting hot down here in Texas. My AC compressor is making horrible grinding noises when turned on. It still blows cold air. Sounds like my compressor clutch is going. Is is possible to just replace the compressor clutch, or the clutch and compressor are one unit and I have to replace both? Will BMW dealer do this, or will they say they can only replace the compressor? thanks, anthony
