Date: Mon, 05 Jun 2000 19:27:50 -0400 From: "Steve D'Gerolamo" <steved3@idt.net> Subject: Pectel Technologies Anyone ever heard of Pectel Technologies (LA area)...US subsidiary of a UK company. Mfg of parallel interfaces & custom ecu's for data acquisition and engine management tuning. I'm trying to line up resources for a project I'm working on and was curious of this company's reputation within the industry here in the US. They're currently doing work for TRD (this is where my dyno went to), Ford, Honda/NSX and several CART teams and have manufactured components for Pi Research. SD (PS-Giles Denning, president of Pectel, is currently looking for a nice M6 if anyone knows of one available...he's got an interesting background in BMW racing over in Europe) ========================================= Steve D'Gerolamo - The Ultimate Garage 201-262-0412 / steved3@idt.net / http://www.ultimategarage.com

#2. For Sale: M3 Coupe AC Schnitzer 3-Piece Rear Lip Spoiler - BRAND - from Nitya Ramchandani

Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 16:28:25 -0700 From: Nitya Ramchandani <Nitya_Ramchandani@genmagic.com> Subject: For Sale: M3 Coupe AC Schnitzer 3-Piece Rear Lip Spoiler - BRAND NEW - and other items Greetings, Items For Sale: I have a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW AC Schnitzer 3-Piece Rear Lip Spoiler For Sale. It (all pieces) has been painted Artic Silver using Sikkens Paint by Sunnyvale AutoBody in N. California (very well known for BMW work) for my '98 M3/2 but was never installed (I have all the installation stuff needed). It is somewhat similar to the new M3 and M5 lip spoilers, however, with corner pieces for better molding into the body of the car. I paid over $300 for the spoiler and another $150 to get it colour-matched. I will let it part for $400.00 or best offer. I would like to keep the sale in the Bay Area (no shipping). And please note... this will not fit the M3/4. I have the stock front and rear air diffusers for the E36 M3 from my '98 M3/2. I bought extras and had them colour-matched through Sunnyvale AutoBody and I installed the colour-matched pieces on my M3. One of the easiest and BEST aesthetic upgrades for my M3 (ask Ben L.). They run for about $90.00 per piece from BMW and cost about $80.00 per piece to get them colour-matched. Since I only have the stock black (not colour-matched) pieces, I will sell for $100.00 or best offer for both pieces together. I would like to keep this sale in the N. Cali Bay Area as well. I have a stock E36 M3 Airbox. I will sell for $20.00 if anyone is interested. I still have a SuperSprint Exhaust with Round Tips from my '98 M3/2. This has about 12K Miles on it and is in excellent condition. I need to reclaim it from my car by next week so I will repost this exhaust then. Please don't ask till I repost it. The price will be $350.00 obo. Please email me privately at: nitya@genmagic.com Many thanks... Nitya ('00 M Coupe)

Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 19:44:03 -0400 From: "B Horlacher" <Horlacher@carrindustries.net> Subject: ROTORS AND WARPING I have a warping problem with my M3, when I brake it shakes so I assume that is the problem I just went to the PF-Z Rated pads and a new set of Brembo Rotors "I paid 63.00 total so it really isn't that big of a deal." Anyway I never had this problem with stock rotors, what is going on? Also do any of you people know where I can get cross drilled rotors for my car at a reasonable price? If the answer is to the latter is a no then I guess I am probably going to get Porsche 930 calipers and rotors. Later, Bill Horlacher BMW CCA 172352 00 Land Rover Discovery II ACE "rotors not warped" 99 Land Rover Discovery II "rotors not warped" 96 BMW ///M3 "rotors WARPED" 73 BMW 2002 "rotors not warped" Oh yeah, has anyone had problems with their tires cupping after they swapped the strut bearings? I am experiencing this problem and now have to buy new tires "Yokohama AVS Sports here I come."

Thanks, > Might be tough to find just the front unless you try a dismantler. You could try the front sway from a 318ti (25 or 25.5mm) or a 318ti Sport (26mm). However, they're not adjustable. #5. End of an Era.... - from AVUSM3@aol.com

Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 20:55:48 EDT From: AVUSM3@aol.com Subject: End of an Era.... Has anyone read the new Roundel (X5 in Alaska) yet?? There is a very disturbing paragraph buried at the end of Rob Roemer's Heard on the Strasse column. Rob states that a reliable source inside the company tells him that the days of the sweet inline 6 that we all love is numbered! It seems that "corporate" decision has been made to go to a V-6 engine in future BMWs for space efficiency reasons! Come on now......I hope they are kidding here. The inline 6 makes all midsize BMWs (including the M cars) special and going to the V would go a long way towards bringing BMWs closer to the other competition on the road. Next thing you know they will be talking about the "efficiency" of going backwards to a 3 valve design like that other German car company! Long live the straight six! John Cloutier

#8. Speaking of foglights... - from Paul Elliott

Carlos, >> >I'm planning on removing mine (broken & useless w/Euro headlights IMO) in >preparation for future brake-ducting. In the interim, I wanted to put a >cover over the open hole. I seem to vaguely recall there being a BMW part >for this? Does anyone recall this, or have the part number handy? 51-11-8-122-450 51-11-8-122-449 Mine came in gray and I left them gray. I could care less about cosmetics, they looked meaner than stoopid foglamps. >8^) WTG Jim. Carlos << Are these part numbers strictly covers to block the openings, or, do they hide the bracket and mounting holes, with a way to leave the mouth open? See, I want to do without my foglamps too, as I want to use the openings for air-routing purposes. I would just leave the holes open, but for me, they look too 'unfinished' with the bracketing and mounting holes showing. So, I was hoping, perhaps as a no foglight option, BMW would offer a part which might cover the bracket, but allow you to leave them open. I actually heard they offered something like this for the 318 i models, but I dont know. I have noticed that AutoZone carries a very good selection of cheap specialized automobile hand tools. Everything from odd large sized Torx bits to every size hex bit including 14 & 17 mm to 32 & 36 mm sockets to brake and ignition tools, etc.... I have found several sizes of large sockets and Torx bits that Sears Crapsman does not carry. If you are desperate and have to buy a 14 mm hex bit immediately, you could probably buy one from AutoZone for $4.00, use it once and throw it away. Then order a permanent hex bit from The Ultimate Garage. And speaking of Sears Craftsman. I wondered why people started calling them Crapsman. I've had good luck with my Craftsman tools. I have a set of metric combination wrenches that are 20+ years old that I have wrenched on, beat on, thrown in the dirt and still look like new. Never rounded a nut off or slipped no matter how long of a cheater bar I put on them. But the other day I bought an identical size wrench (16 mm) and it is Crapsman! It is at least 1/8 inch wider and about 3/4 inch shorter. No wonder you guys are having clearance problems. Sears has obviously changed the producer of its wrenches. I have bought my last Craftsman wrench. Lowell Seaton Dallas, Texas '95 M3/2 BMW CCA #131505
