#1. Retrofitting an OBC into an E36 - from Hunter Johnson

I've been talking to someone who says it can be done for $350, which seems low to me, since the OBC unit itself must cost that much... What is involved with this job? Can you enlighten me? Thanks Hunter 1998 M3/4

#4. E36M3 Fog Light Opening Covers - from Burgess, Kim L

Parts guy also said that those 'molded-in' numbers are used during the 'build' process and that they use different number in the OEM supply chain. Seems like an odd explanation to me. I also installed a fog light 'Protection Kit' 82-11-0-008-642 I think they were about $27 for the pair. A clear soft 3M product that is 'prep, peal, and stick'. I have seen the same thing advertised under different names in several mail order catalogs from $19 and-up. I believe they are all this slick 3M product as well.

Seems like an odd explanation to me. > This is totally normal. It's the difference between a part # (usually used internal to the manufacturer to track parts and sub-assemblies) and a SKU # (Shelf Keeping Unit - used to track products in the retail channel). The SKU # identifies the whole product and is composed of one of more part #'s, but these part numbers are effectively invisible to the end user. You order a SKU number the Parts Counter even if you call it a part number. (I have an off-line friend who needs spacers for his 98 M Roadster, which I assume has the same bolt pattern as the rest of the E36 M cars(?)) Thanks, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 - no need for spacers...yet

Seems like an odd explanation to me. Thanks for the info, Kim (and to Carlos & Jim as well). Not sure what the "molded" vs. "molded-in" issue is; will the 449/450 parts pop into the foglight opening after removal of the entire foglight assembly? Thanks, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 - hopefully sporting "meaner"-looking foglight openings soon :-)
