#1. Hawk Blues FS - from Dave Hogg

Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2000 22:16:36 -0400 From: Dave Hogg <springwood@BlazeNet.net> Subject: Hawk Blues FS I'm selling a full set, new in box, front and rear HB135 & HB140's for E36 M3. If I trailered the car or changed pads at the track, I'd use them. (I don't so I'm using PF90's instead -- they're almost as good on the track and more street-friendly.) The Hawks are the ultimate pure track pad for our cars. $175 & I'll ship to lower 48. Email privately please. Dave Hogg

That's how mine started, first it was a few rows in cold weather, but it got worse and worse, getting to the point where when the OBC display was first turned on, it was pretty much illegible. Even in warm weather, september is pretty warm in Arizona. Slowly rows would re-light, and the display would be legible. I'll play it by ear, if it bugs me enough, I'll fix it. But given that my car has the airbag idiot light lit (permanently) for something like 4 months now, it could be a while! Electrical tape works wonders at concealing idiot lights.. You saw that HUGE wing that Dinan put in his car, taller than the one in the LTW. He also had the adjustable front splitter from the LTW. Ya think they worked? :-) Carlos PS Hey I took a few shots of you, did you see them? http://www.neilwerke.com click on the One lap link. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I've seen it now. I've held it in place. I've adored it from afar. I've revered it from up close and personal. I'm done with it. Anyone want to give me $7.50 including nationwide USPS for it? That's below retail K-Mart shoppers. If not, take your chances that it'll lay around for 6 months and be offered for free next time I clean the garage. Jim

I know many M3 owners who use this rotor and >some have warped while others have not had such difficulties. Thanks in >advance for your help. i'm not sure i understand completly what you mean. there's two ways to interpret it so i'll answer both ways. #1. you warp your rotors at the track. well... the euro rotors aren't impervious to warping. they are just harder to warp. i warp mine every 4th event or so. (i'd warp stock rotors every event) some people are just harder on brakes. you can be harder on brakes for several reasons. first is bad technique. second is bad cooldown procedures. the third is just using the brakes at 100% for 100% of the turns on a "brake unfriendly" track. if you're setting lap records with your M3 then it's the last one. the brakes on an M3 (race pads and floating rotors) are just too good for their own good. meaning you can stop in amazingly short distances, but doing do makes too much heat. especially if you do it over and over and over for a half hour. i have full ducting and still can warp them unless i "take it easy". if you're still pretty new and not going ultra fast, then it's probably one of the first two. look around for michael lord's excellent writeup on the subject. -------- #2. your rotors become "warped" a few days after the events once you've changed back to stock pads. they may not be warping at all in this case. the race pads deposit carbon into the rotor. the stock pads "scrape" this off and you can get a "warped" feeling when it's just an uneven surface. (race pads used easy on the street can scrape this off too) if the warped feeling goes away at the track next time you go (without changing rotors) this is probably what you're feeling. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
