Doesn't seem like it >is seeing the average use. Or maybe this is someone who has kidnapped >Sean? >Stay tuned and find out. it doens't get much drag use, but it has seen 50 track events. and that's not 50 kinda fast track days. that's 50 full on, shift at redline, kill brake pads, rotors and tires every other day, as hard as race usage. (or probably harder due to more actual track time per event, and more events per year) i admit it. my car is used as hard (harder really) then a race car. there's probably not an e36 M3 in the ENTIRE WORLD that's been used as hard as mine has. (maybe some of the PTG race cars, but those aren't really very similar to my production M3) from that standpoint it's no wonder my car is "worn out". i don't whine about my suspension being worn out. i don't whine about creaks and rattles. i don't whine about warped rotors. i don't whine about squeaky brakes. i don't whine about my cluth being shot. i don't whine about squeaky cluth pedals. and i DIND'T whine when my vanos broke the first time and i paid to fix it out of pocket. my car was out of warrenty by then anyway. this is a race car, i'm not so stupid to think i'm not abusing it. but... the M3s that are at every event that i am. that i have to try hard to keep up with. (so are getting used as hard) are not killing vanos gears every 3 months. (michael, brian, dale, peter) and the two people i know that race M3s don't break vanos gears at all. so (regardless of weather my use is causing it) my vanos gear is braking too much and noone at BMW seems to be able to fix it. i'd LOVE TO PAY them to fix it. my car's well out of warrenty so all fixes are on me. the only reason i'm getting vanoses for free is because of the parts warrenty. they can't find any reason for the vanos failure so they are forced to give me a new one because the part must have been bad int he first place. i'd RATHER them say "look, this and that broke your vanos gear so we won't warrenty it and it'll cost $2000 to fix the problem". but... they havne't... who knows? maybe i'm crazy. maybe it IS normal and my usage (racing) is breaking it? i'm sure BMW would love the world to know that their "top of the line" S50 engine is only worth 2-3 months of racing useage. and i'm sure that makes the two people i know that RACE M3s very happy that they have extraordinary engines that last well over a year. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

But >make sure you mention that you want it changed to minimze protectionism, >and >avoid the "safety" theme. Hunter, I wish that Canada still imported ECE approved cars. That's no longer the case. As all the digesters know, Canada received a batch of 45 Euro-spec 3.0 litre M3s in 1994 as a result of us being part of the European auto pact (can't recall the exact name). The only reason we were in that pact was because Volvo had a factory in Canada (Halifax, Nova Scotia) that assembled the cars here. They've recently shuttered that factory so we are out of the auto pact. Besides, we never really took advantage of that pact. We did have the TVRs (including the insane Griffith 500) but the dealer is no longer in business. Other than that, we get the run of the mill NA-spec cars. Oh, if only I could get my hands on a Lotus Elise... ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Hey Everyone, About 3 months ago, I had a new clutch and AA lightweight flywheel installed, and now I'm noticing a funny noise. The noise only happens when the clutch is fully disengaged and my AC is blowing. If I put the clutch in, or turn off the AC, it goes away. Anyway, any feed back would be greatly appreciated. My car has a MechTech Turbo, if that makes any difference. Thanks, Tony 96' M3
