It was featured in a comparison test with a 300ZX, a Supra, and a VR4. The article was named, I believe, "Mid-life Crisis". The 95 yellow M3 there, of course, won the gold with ease. Road & Track recorded a best of 5.4 and 14.1 in a comparison test with the Mercedes C36. That was also a 95 M3.< Thanks for the info. I thought 5.1 was a tad too fast. But, apparently not for the M roadster....I still dont understand how the roadster consistantly pulls 5.0 - 5.2 times, then the M cpe falls in a couple tenths behind, followd by the M3. All with same tires, engines, gear ratios, and weight too close to account for even a fraction of a tenth. Wind resistance? Different rear suspensions? Who knows.... _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <15000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <15000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger

I towed my '96 M3 round trip 650 miles to Watkins Glen yesterday and today, without an issue. My tow vehicle is a '97 Ford Explorer with v8 and all wheel drive. Food for thought anyways... I'm going to hazard a guess on that one. The MZed (Roadster or Coupe) is: 1) a bit lighter (I think more than they say) 2) Has a bit more HP (dyno proven) due to (I think) the really good exhaust design on the MZed Any diffs between the Coupe and Rdstr are purely statistical noise. The only diff otherwise is psychological.. I know I drive more agressively with the top down and the wind in my (thin) hair. ;)

Installation looks straightforward, which means, of course that I have some questions: 1 - I have (well, my car has) a stock suspension. It looks like I can just remove the old nuts, slap this bad boy on, and adjust the width without even jacking up the car. Correct? 2 - What should I torque those trick li'l cap nuts to? Bentley calls for 16 ft/lbs for the regular nuts, but they're self locking and the cap nuts aren't. 3 - Doesn't look like I should be using any washers. Correct? 4 - Loctite? And if so, what flavor (raspberry red, or cool minty blue)? I'd like to install this guy before Sunday's outing at Second Creek.

Vanos is good for street driving, but is useless for a race car. *Conclusion*: Throw out your Vanos, if you have problems with it in your race car. Maybe this would work: -remove the complete VANOS (electrical and mechanical stuff) -use a M50 non-Vanos dme (instead a S50) -reprogram the chip optional: -throw in some racing cams -individual throttles -porting & polishing the head Any reason why this shouldn't work? mill
