Thought some of you might enjoy this as much as we did... Listen the that sweet in-line six rev down the straight. ;-) (keep an eye on the A4 following him) http://www.geocities.com/pmazl/Quattro_spin.mpg On a more serious note, a friend of mine (the drive of the F1 M3, he he) is looking for some decent used forged or other lightweight type of wheels for the track. Preferably 17x8 and under 20 pounds. Does anyone have any sitting around in their garage that they'd like to get rid of? Donna, do you still have your forged wheels sitting around? (Don't worry my umbrella carrying duties won't change if you don't) Thanks, Jonathan L ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

BMW does sell ball joints (i.e., a "wheel suspension joint), but just not one for the M3s. Cheers, Jim E. Honda makes darn good engines. Darn good. Their tolerances are generally accepted as the best in the industry. They used their F1 program as a training ground for their young engineers, so as to instill the right frame of mind. (What's the redline on the GS-R again?) And Honda are coming baaaaaack... Hunter

That being said, the Fischer lines from Steve D'G would be (and were) my choice. Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 - using all of the above

#6. WTB Low Mileage E36 four door - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 14:43:07 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: WTB Low Mileage E36 four door List members, My SO's lease is just about up on her Accord and I think, after her trials and tribulations this weekend (elaborated open later), may have her open to the idea of a good used E36. With that in mind, this is what we are looking for: - E36 - Automatic (I know, I need to teach her how to drive a manual) - Low mileage for the model year, preferably with remaining warranty (certified or original). I would prefer something very low in mileage. - Four doors - Near NE Ohio preferably - Traction control (she is used to FWD and thought this would be a good compromise). - Light in color (first - silver, second - white, etc.). - All other options are up for grabs Any advice would be appreciated or if anyone knows of a car like this, please advise directly via my email (rdorffer@cleindians.com). My girlfriend probably can compromise on any engine size so any four door model would be fine (318, 325, 328). We would probably buy rather than lease. I plan to begin browsing the BMW lots in the area (Cleveland, Akron, Canton) but thought the list may have some leads on a car like this or may keep their eyes open. Lastly, what would you expect to spend (reasonable range). Best regards, Rich FYI - Her Accord ingested water when the right front inner fender liner (slightly damaged from a prior accident and obviously not fixed properly) fell out and ripped out the lower portion of the air box along with it (never noticed by the SO). This is all according to the Honda service manager as I have not seen all this for myself. Long and short of it, the engine threw at least on rod and Honda will not cover it even though the car is under warranty. Therefore, insurance is covering it like a collision claim. Seems like our only recourse would be against the original repair from the prior accident) which overlooked the fender liner but could prove difficult?! Worst case, insurance covers the repair, less deductible, and we see what it may do to her insurance premiums.

I'll get a temp. reading of around 180 degrees after running about 10-15 minutes on the highway (takes that long to warm up). On hot days it goes up to maybe 200 degrees. On the track I'll see ~240 degrees, if very hot out. YMMV Just helped install the same kit myself..also very happy. HTH, Dinah

Sean, My M3 is not a daily driver. My commute for work is almost 100 miles of interstate driving each day. I also need to frequently haul three kids around. My daily driver is a '93 525iT. A great, comfortable, quiet car that gets ~24 mpg for my commute. It could use a little more power, and I would have preferred a 5-speed transmission, but the compromises are easy to live with. After my recent experience at the Nurburgring, driving a...530d (3.0L turbo diesel with 5-speed steptronic auto transmission), I would actually choose this engine option for my daily driver, if it was available in the US. The car was getting well over 30 mpg at autobahn speeds (160-200 km/hr), and was equipped with the navigation system, too. Oh, and that parked ventilation control (or whatever it's called) is a pretty cool feature, too. That said, it's always a thrill to uncover the M3 and go for a long drive on the weekend. And the 525iT can't even come close to the M3 in a driver's school session. -rb (Wishing I was still driving the line on the 'Ring...) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Isn't coil over spark plug technology straight outta F1? Someone told me it was. Ya gotta love popping the hood with friends to play "Find the spark plug wires." It's surprising how many people have never seen such technology. - Skip

Sean, Nope, my 318ti is MUCH more fun for the 20-mile, part hiway, part rural, part city commute that I do. Even with lowering and several track mods, it's a nicer ride, and 30mpg ain't bad either! For the track, the M3 is "the bomb!" as they say! And as Ron said, it makes those weekend rides in the M3 a rare treat. dw 95 318ti 95 M3 PS - I bought both used, each had appx 9500 miles, and combined cost was equal to a new 99 M3, so 'rich' isn't necessarily required to 'have it both ways' ;-)
