Wax up the contact points, clean the rack feet, and put it on. I've used mine for two years now of heavy skiing and biking without a problem. ========================== georgecarrjr@rmi.net

#2. Michigan Speedway - from John Van Houten

I'm jonesing to get some more track time, but I'm not sure if its worth the drive time and relatively high expense (more than most club schools) for a road course at an oval track. I looked for a map, hotlap, description, etc. on the web and it's just NASCAR roundy-round based stuff. Any help is appreciated. John

(rags under the rubber pads, etc.) Another option may be to apply that thin film (laminate) typically used in front mask applications to a clean surface on your trunk so the wear areas are protected by it rather than your paint. It should be very easy to apply to a flat surface like a trunk (versus a nice compound curvy hood). This stuff is commonly available and is typically made by 3M. I also used some on the front of my car (hood, lights, bumper) when I went to driving school to keep the chips to a minimum. If you are careful when applying, it is nearly invisible although I did not care for my temporary application. Even though you may clean and wax the area prior to putting on the bike rack, we all know dirt gets under there almost immediately. That is why bras are typically such a bad idea for many people who just do not like to constantly remove them and clean the dirt off the hood, bumper and bra before reinstalling. Good luck. Best regards, Rich

They make/sell a product film that goes on the front of your car to protect it from rock dings and chips. You could probably get some of it to mount on your trunk where the bike rack goes. Or you could get the 3M product directly. When I bought my 325 to setup for club racing I started an initial spreadsheet of planned expenses and it did not look pretty. I've decided to ditch the spreadsheet and just throw all my bills into a box so that I can do a post mortem at the end of the year rather than a running balance. Vijay 98 RABID M3 94 325i

I did have a 4 wheel alignment after I changed camber, however I think it may be wrong so I will have them recheck it, my tires are definitely cupped, I do not mind the inside tire wear but cupping causes the car to shake. Is there a way to decrease my negative camber to -1 instead of -2+ ??? Thanks again Bill Horlacher

Yakima and Thule come to mind. However, you will need a VERY short hex socket for the top bolt on the rear, as the bolt (guide bolt? anyone? anyone?) lines up nicely with the strut, and leaves no room for a long socket. #10. Bike Rack - from Ed Tang

(rags unter the rubber pads, etc.) Trunk racks really suck. I've had two and I always had to check the mirrors b/c YOU NEVER KNOW! Once I dented the trunk lid tying the rack too tight. I'm really paranoid about the darn thing coming off. Once my friend had the tire too close to the muffler and it blew the tire on the bike. We freaked out because we thought the bike fell off. You might have to bite the bullet like I did and get a roof rack. I have a Saris and it attaches to the rain gutter. It doesn't marr the surface and it is safe. I've even got a cargo rack to haul junk to the track, ie. tool box, air compressor, lawn chairs, portable picnic table, Steve D. brake bleeder, mini grill, you name it. Hope it helps.
