I tried the bubbles from Bavarian and threw them away. I've had the 3M product on my Euro's, the fog lights, and the turn signals for over a year with no complaints. I've seen a car with the 3M product across the entire front of the car to protect the paint as well (on the dealer's loaner) but I've not been willing to put it on my vehicle. ========================== georgecarrjr@rmi.net

Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 21:29:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Daniel <m3_driver@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] More 8.5" Wheels Wayne, a 245/40/17 tire on the factory 8.5" wheel with 41mm offset will fit on the stock suspension set up or a stock shock with lowering springs The problems comes when an oversized 245/40 tire is used (eg. Yoko AVS Sports...Bridgestone PP...) Michelins fit perfectly. The other problems comes when you use a Bilstein sport shock...these shocks are way wider in diameter compared to the stock shocks and the rubbing takes place. The trunk will not hold a 8.5" spare and lay flat...it sits about a 1/4" higher with the 8.5" wheel as spare Your situation with the hitch brace will raise the rear mat even higher Daniel --- Wayne Miller <m3@waynemiller.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 10:07:43 -0400 > From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> > Subject: More 8.5" Wheels > > >> Friend's car : Pole Position-S02 in 245/45-17 > size - inner rim guard rubs > so bad that you can't drive unless installing 10mm > spacers. > > I was about to send a message to the list and since > I think that I am the > friend mentioned, I am speaking up. > > I have the BMW 17x8.5 Forged Double Five Spoke > wheels all around with SO2 > Pole Position tires in 245/40/17 all around. Aftermarket windshields by PPG are about $100 cheaper. Pick out a few glass shops and get an estimate (in person) from each. Take a look at their installers. If they are over 40, there's a good chance they've been in the business a good while. It's not rocket science, but its nice to get a good experienced installer. Its possible to reuse the rubber surround, but you may want to spring for new rubber. I've had to replace my glass twice and reused the rubber both times.
