There's quite a few of us that run in the NASA HPDE, and BMW Club Race. Look forward to seeing some new faces then. Power rear vent windows were the second project on my U.S. car while I had it apart to re-enable the rear fog lights. Unlike some of the more adventurous bretheren, I was cautious and waited until the car was a couple months old. I have some window control modules on order and plan to give them one-touch operation. -John '96 318is -- john.firestone@nord-com.net

I know (or know of) a bunch of the folks that went this year and was curious to see the results. Carlos Motor City Chapter PS Anyone catch that video of a Schnitzer M3 against a Kawasaki bike at the ring? I have to get a copy one of these days. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! Mail - Free email you can access from anywhere! http://mail.yahoo.com/

IF the radio you have is the original one provided by the factory, the dealer might be able to get the code. Many times, the dealership where the car was originally purchased keeps things like the radio code on record. Have your local dealer do a DCS Inquiry to find out where your car was originally sold at. Then have them contact that dealership to see if they have the radio code in their paperwork. If I recall correctly, it went like this (for the 1998 version): 1. install "sysadmin" (database server sofware) -run install.exe (or was it setup.exe) in CD:\win95\bmw\etk -follow the install instructions (choose language etc.) 2 Run sysadmin in the menu ETK (EPC if installed in Englisch), choose install ETK( or EPC). This installs the EPC/ETK software, choose language. 3. drink a Bavarian beer cheers, mill

If you got a hold of the one the dealers use aka. the ETK Telekatalog sp? then you will need to install the system administrator first. Once installed an icon will be placed on your desktop. Open it and open EPC and viola you will see the "install" command. More detail? Email me privately. The reason you didn't get any responses on the uuc digest is because THIS is the list that people pay closer attention to and take the time to respond. :-) Sorry about the shameless plug. :-) Cheers, Jim E. jay wrote: > Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 19:51:31 -1000 > From: jay <jguzman@hawaii.edu> > Subject: installing bmw parts cd? > > i posted this on the uuc digest, but didnt get any replies, so i thought i'd try > here...does anyone know how to install the bmw parts cd??? some things are in german and > there are lots of various applications that can be run...so i'm pretty clueless...any help > from others who do have the parts cd would be greatly appreciated...thanx!!! > > ************************************************************* > List Commands > UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you from the mailing list. > *************************************************************

#9. tires - from Paul Elliott

Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 13:44:49 -0400 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: tires Dave, >What's the average life for tires on an e36M3 (Mostly used for highway - normal driving) - 98M3< In my case, I have approx 12K miles on my stock Michelin Pilot Sports. I just measured current tread depth. Up front I have 8/32 left, and in back, 7/32. For the rears, that means it took 12K miles to reduce the tread depth from 10/32 to 7/32. Setting up the proportion, it will take approx 32K miles to get down the the 2/32 wear bars. That certainly sounds like extradordinary tread wear for these tires. Driving style includes daily highway commutes and other road excursions, plus a few auto crosses, and several spirited 0-60 tests. I dont regularly spin the tires, but it does occur from time to time. Anyway, if this wear pattern continues, I'd certainly consider myself very lucky, judging by reports from others, who say they have worn their's out in under 15K miles! _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <15000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger
