Wayne, just make sure that they don't rub hard enough to overheat the sidewall of the tire, which might weaken the rubber... Maybe you could "shave" 1/16-1/8" off the rim protector on the inside of the tire, after all there shouldn't be any curbs there... ; ) Dmitri

However, in Wayne's case, I think he'll long be done with the tires before he can even do that! Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! Curb rash--oh, the shame! My experience has been that the rim protector on the Michelin's (MXX3's) was rather ineffective, but the rim protector on the Toyo Proxes street tires was quite good and did in fact prevent curb rash. I have a VDO sender from BMP, but it's clearly the wrong one -- it doesn't even fit in the UUC housing! Can anyone email me the proper VDP part number for the oil temp sender? #7. M3 Water Pump - from Darling Christopher AMC/CEOP

Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2000 11:39:25 -0500 From: Darling Christopher AMC/CEOP <chris.darling@scott.af.mil> Subject: M3 Water Pump Well, I got it done. The new water pump is now installed, and without undue aggravation and frustration. I used Jeff Ogi's procedure (see site: members.xoom.com/uberjeph) with only minor modification, using a new pump from Steve D', and it worked like a charm. (Nice procedure, Jeff!) Somebody gimme a check for $400, which is about how much money I saved! FWIW, add my info to the database: My car is a '95 M3, build date 10/94. The water pump DID have the plastic impeller. However, it showed zero apparent defects to my cursory inspection--76K miles on the part. ______________end Cod Capt Chris Darling HQ AMC/CEOP DSN 576-5930, Comm (618)256-5930

#8. [E36M3] it's been so long, i don't remember... - from Sean Hester

Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2000 10:06:45 PDT From: "Sean Hester" <seanh_race@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] it's been so long, i don't remember... this question is probably for jim c, but if any others know i'd love to hear about it. ;-) long long ago i upgraded my 95 M3 with a euro HFM and the special jim c chip to go with it. and i've gotten very used to it's power curve. last week i sold that car (all upgrades included) and now have a completly stock 95 M3. on this car, when i do full acceleration from 2000-6500 i get a tiny hesitation at about 3900 rpms, and then a big surge at about 4200. there might not even be a hesitation. but there's definetly a LARGE increase of power above 4200 rpms. it's almost like having a turbo kick in at that rpm. my old car (with large hfm and jim c chip) did NOT do this. the power was basically flat through the whole range. here's some questions: 1. is this "extra push" above 4200 rpms normal for a stock M3? it's been so long since i had a stock M3 i don't remember... 2. did the large hfm and matching jim c chip (only engine mods i had) smooth that out in my old car? (or was my old car "special") 3. was it the hfm? or the chip? that did that smoothing. the reason i ask #3 is, i don't want to modify this car much at all, so if i can smooth that surge out with just a chip i'd rather do that then change the whole intake. i'm NOT looking for extra power. i'm just looking to have a smooth power curve over the whole range... ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
