Has anyone any experience with these? Web site is http://www.ground-control.com/default.htm Thanks Ted 95 M3

Has anyone any experience with these? Yes, that is what I've got on my car, since February, and several track weekends. I'm very pleased with them so far. - Rich

Does my '99 even have a microfilter, and if so, why no mention in any of the srvc material? _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger

#6. M3 Misfiring - from Paul Elliott

Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2000 22:22:23 -0400 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: M3 Misfiring > Sunoco must be the Taco Bell of gasolines. That's interesting...I usually only use 2 brands of gas...One is the Mobil 93 octane, and the other is the Sunoco either 93 or 94 octane. Frankly, I've never noticed any difference whatsoever between them. Nor between the 93 and 94 for that matter. But, are you saying that you know something about Sunoco, ie, that its an inferior brand of gas, or something? If the problem you faced was caused by a bad tankful, isnt it as possible that the problem could have been affiliated with any brand, and not a Sunoco specific problem? Or, perhaps, its a dealer related problem, and again, not a Sunoco problem per se? _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger

Date: Mon, 03 Jul 2000 20:20:03 PDT From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: M3 Misfiring Paul, I'm not claiming to have any inside knowledge about Sunoco being bad gasoline. In all likelihood, it was a problem with that specific batch of gasoline. I filled up with Sunoco 94 on the day before my driving school (from another Sunoco station), and the car performed well at the school. In any case, I've never encountered this problem with my M3. The only other time I had a questionable issue with gasoline and my M3 was when I purchased a tankful of premium unleaded from the new WAWA station that opened up near my house. On _that_ tank of gas, I could detect a slight pinging under hard acceleration. As soon as the gas was refilled with one of my regular brands, the problem went away. I still use the WAWA gas in my daily driver (a 525iT), and don't have any problems. But I'll never put it in my M3 again. Bad gas from a discount gas chain is easier to accept than bad gas from a national brand, especially when I paid the extra $$ for 94 octane. My M3 lives happily on a diet of Texaco, Amoco and Exxon, with an occasional tank of Shell gas. I've never had problems with these brands in 23 years of driving. -rb >From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> >To: <rbuchals@hotmail.com> >CC: "E36M3" <e36m3@bmwmpower.com> >Subject: M3 Misfiring >Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2000 22:22:23 -0400 > > > Sunoco must be the Taco Bell of gasolines. > >That's interesting...I usually only use 2 brands of gas...One is the Mobil >93 octane, and the other is the Sunoco either 93 or 94 octane. It should. Check your Service Manual, under "Inspection I". It should list "Replace microfilter". Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 - Inspection I complete; now I just need to get off my lazy-holiday butt & wash it :-)
