BMW sells it in smaller bottles (8 oz?), and I don't know what the concentration is, but BMW recommends using it with every tankful. Of course, they're selling it to you... ;-) The Techron additive sold in auto parts stores is recommended at 3000 mile intervals. Since small amounts of it can get past your rings and into your oil, it's not recommended to use it too many times. Many people use it every 3000 miles and change their oil once the techron-laden tank is used up. I tend to use it around every 2500-3000 miles, and I change oil according to the service interval lights on my daily driver (E34 525iT). I use it in my M3 every 2500 miles, and change oil every 5000 miles. -rb >From: snell@wathosp.com (Sergio Nell) >To: Ron Buchalski <rbuchals@hotmail.com> >CC: E36M3 <e36m3@bmwmpower.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] Re: M3 Misfiring >Date: Mon, 03 Jul 2000 12:14:13 -0700 > > >Does Techron really make a difference? Normally, I use Exxon, because of its convenience of locations near the places that I live, work, and go to school. Although, Exxon gas seems to me to be the worse for causing your BMW's cat to smell like rotten eggs. Wasn't there a TSB about this a while ago? If we are talking race gas, Sunoco is the way to go. They offer a great range of race gases, from 100 octane unleaded to 114+ leaded, as well as some really cool oxygenated stuff that you've got to store in opaque gas cans. Its what we use in our LTW. -Bryan Watts

I just installed a Brembo Big Brake Kit a few weeks ago and it's amazing. I upgraded because I felt a little fade at Buttonwillow but none at Willow Springs (the fastest track in the west). I also did a few M3 runs and had a ton of fade at one Mulholland <sp?> run where the road seemed to turn into one lane (it was actually 2 way). I had to back off and cool my brakes. I got a really good deal on the Brembo kit. I thought I'd do a write-up on them after I got to really use them but this weekend at the LA chapter auto-x wasn't any help as the pavement was too slippery and couldn't judge. Maybe at Willow Springs next week :) Overall, the brakes went on perfectly w/o shims or measuring. I did have to grind down the mounting ears but after that, it was cake. They are definitely more responsive than stock and I'm sure I won't have any problems with fade anymore <crossing fingers> -Bobby http://rchay.home.mindspring.com/m3.htm > -----Original Message----- > Indeed, until I need eyeball restraints, there's never too much > braking. 8-) > >

In most locations, different brand gas stations might all get refilled from the same gas supplier, with the same gas. There might be a few suppliers serving the area, so usually it takes some trial and error to find a gas station with gas that your car likes the best. As an example, where I live there are several Shell stations with gas that causes a horrible sulfur smell in my car - every single time I fill up there. However I've used Shell at other locations which did not cause this. I have found that the Exxon stations in my area do not cause the sulfur smell at all, so this is now the gas I use. -Adam Fila '95 M3 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bryan Watts" <wattba02@wfu.edu> > > Where do you guys go to fill up the gas?? #11. "BEST" Gas Station?? - from Michael Ting

Date: Tue, 4 Jul 2000 10:43:08 -0500 From: "Michael Ting" <lupin@purdue.edu> Subject: "BEST" Gas Station?? The reason that I started this thread is because with high gas prices, I don't want to spend more money on Shell/Amoco gas station when I can get the same thing on smaller-name gas station. Many people told me that Amoco is the "best" here (Indiana). So I buy gas from them most of the time. It's only recently that I'm starting to think: "How do you know Amoco really has the "best" gas??" Is there any scientific study that was done to prove this? Thanks. Michael Ting --------------------
