#3. E36 M3 selling frenzy and the E46 M3 - from nabli@attglobal.net
Top
Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 13:37:12 -0400 From: nabli@attglobal.net Subject: E36 M3 selling frenzy and the E46 M3 Hey guys, I noticed a recent selling frenzy of E36 M3s. I guess you guys already know that the price has been confirmed (orally) to be in the low $50s - (~53+ fully loaded and that does include the "premium" associated with buying such a "hot" car). What you guys may or may not know is that the expected run for the first model year is going to be around 300. BMW has made it very clear to the dealerships NOT to expect high numbers for the following years. If you are on the "list" then don't be disappointed if you end up waiting and waiting and waiting .... :-( Cheers, Jim E.

I spent a lot of time tracking down what I thought was a cooling problem because I kept overheating. After coming up with nothing, I started to notice the dreaded milky color in my oil. Anyway, any other Stage II turbo people out there that have had this happen, or anyone ever have a head gasket fail on a normally aspirated car? My concerns are a warped head/block. Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 15:21:27 -0700 From: "Rodger Keesee" <rodger@teutonic.com> Subject: Deformed Body! Hi all, Hit a curb the other day *really* hard (learned lesson about descending a hill on fresh blacktop too). Anyway, after replacing wheel, control arms, tie rod, bushings. I discover the camber is way out of spec. Camber spec: -1.27 to -0.27 degrees Actual: - 2.4 degrees This means the strut tower is leaning too far inside. Caster is a bit off too. The other side is OK, but the damaged side is half the min spec. It's imperceptible behind the wheel during street driving but I don't want adverse effects on the tires or at the next driver school. Anyone else ever experience damage like this after a curb-shot? How did you get it fixed? (or not fix it) I'm in the SF Bay Area and would appreciate any references for a high-quality straightening shop. Rodger rodger@teutonic.com '97 M3/ 2 with leaning tower and safer driver

Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 15:45:08 PDT From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] Possible Track Spot Available (again!) It's happened again... I have a paid spot for an upcoming track day and somethings come up that will make it very hard for me to attend. It's at Willow Springs (California) with Speed Trial USA. I can only get credit toward the next event instead of a refund and I'm not even 100% sure if I can transfer my spot to someone else (waiting for a reply from them) but I'd like to offer it to any interested people. It's a one-day event (practice only, no time trials) and it was $120 for the day (plus a $10 fee that you'd pay at the gate). I obviously don't want to make any profit but I also can't afford to give it away. If anyone's interested (Jim(s), Wen, or anyone else) just let me know. There's already a few other local bimwads going so you won't be alone. Thanks for the bandwidth, Jonathan L. (at this rate, I may never get to the track again) =( ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

#15. adjustable sway bar links - from jbergstrom
Top
Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 17:54:51 -0500 From: "jbergstrom" <john@intellectsys.com> Subject: adjustable sway bar links I am considering replacing my nearly worn-out front stock sway bar links with adjustable links. There is a very well-written and informative tech-tip written by Ben Liaw on UUC's site on building your own links. I am wondering if anyone out there has built these links. http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_techtip/techtips/sway_bar_links.htm - how do you like them? - what is the proper way to adjust them in order to "properly pre-load" the sway bar? Thanks . . . John '95 M3 with Eibach sway bars, Bilstein/H&R combo, and gobs and gobs of other stuff . . .
