Juan, I have a 95 M3 with the Dinan Stage III suspension, four 8.5-inch 10-spokes and four 245/40 SO2's. Looks-wise, I love it! More aggressive, especially since I went from pure-stock suspension and 235/40's on 7.5-inch rims. It's more aggressive in the rear since the Dinan suspension drops the rear down a noticable amount and more aggressive in the front due to the wider rim and tire combo. I thought about 255's but backed off since I didn't want to overkill it and have rubbing issues. Right now I have no rubbing in the front (no spacers either) and a tiny bit of rubbing in the right rear which I have not investigated yet. steve 95 M3

#2. Autox Pressures for Yoko AVS Sports? - from sburke

Finlly, my work/travel schedule is allowing me to hit my 2nd autox of the year this weekend (*sigh* I miss the old days). Can anyone recommend some initial starting tire pressures for a stock M3/4 with Yoko AVS Sports? The last time I had massive understeer for most of the event. I'll be better off this time as I've finally dug my air tank out of storage, but I'd like to get a decent point to start at. Thanks! --Sean -- Sean M. #3. M3 Track/Autocross Tire Recommendations - from Stan Shaw III

Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2000 08:08:36 -0400 From: "Stan Shaw III" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: M3 Track/Autocross Tire Recommendations I am looking for suggestions on tires to be used strictly for track and autocross. The car will be trailed to the track, and the autocross is usually only <10 miles away. I have 7.5x17 and 8.5x17 LTW wheels on a '96 M3. Currently, it has well worn Yokohama A032Rs 235/40x17. I would appreciate suggestions on what sizes of what brands will fit in the stock wheel wells. I notice TireRack only lists A032s and R1s in the 235/40X17 size. Is there a Hoosier or Kumho that will fit, if so, would either be a good choice? Thanks! Your infomercial at Gateway Tech last spring included mention of taking care of your current cutomers. Any upgrade path? Still testing? Maybe I'm the only one interested. ....ned. #5. Tragic Autocross accident - from Keith Wertman

Danger lurks at every corner and you must always be aware of the car on the track. A friend of mine who is super involved in the SCCA told me about an autocross where he did not use his best judgement. He insisted that the stop box was to short and placed to close to a curb. On his second run of the day he came in way to hot and promptly sent his prepared Neon into the air. No injury to himself or others. Car suffered damaged wheels/tires and suspension and did not complete the day. #6. Extended warranty - from Alex Aditya

Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2000 06:29:19 PDT From: "Alex Aditya" <adityaax@hotmail.com> Subject: Extended warranty Dear digesters, I know this subject has been discussed before, so if you would prefer, please reply to me privately at adityaax@hotmail.com I have a 96 M3 5 speed with 47,xxx miles on it, the warranty will expire on July 25th. I'm considering of getting an extended warranty from Warranty Gold (they quote me $2099 for 7 year/100K miles Diamond plan, starting from the date I purchase the coverage). Has anyone had any experience with them (how easy are they to deal with when you file a claim and about the coverage) and is it worth it to get extended warranty on my car? I read in Road&Track (I think??) used car review for the M3, it was said in the article that the VANOS usually fails at about 60,000 miles, is there any truth to that (I mean with regular use of the car, no or little track time)? Thanks a lot Alex ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Hasn't anyone been doing anything exciting with their M3's lately? Any new mods anyone wants to tell us about? Anything new and exciting coming out from UUC Motorwerks? Am I the only one that is getting bored with the same old stuff all the time? If only >I had an unlimited budget I would buy two sets. I purchased a set of IFG wheels (8x17) for track use, and shod them with Toyo RA1 tires, size 235/45R17. My street wheels/tires are 7.5x17 Motorsport (10 spoke) with MXX3s 235/40R17. I found that the lighter track wheels, combined with the larger tires, ended weighing 1.5 lb less than the street tire combo. So, don't sweat the "less unsprung weight" issue too much, unless you're comparing the same tires on two different types of wheels. -rb ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

As I stated to Chester yesterday, the longer you make the bar, the more leverage you'll have, so the softer the bar will appear to be. Try this experiment... * Take two identical paper clips * Bend one like this: | | | | |____________________| ^ ^ * Bend one like this: | | |______________________| ^ ^ * Hold each paperclip at the ^ points, and try to twist it by pushing one end up and the other end down. * Which paperclip is stiffer? The one with the shorter arms, or the one with the longer arms? -rb >Date: Mon, 10 Jul 2000 15:14:56 -0700 >From: "Jim Bassett" <jbassett@mayannetworks.com> >Subject: RE: [E36M3] Help on Autocross Setup for M3 > >:-) Quoting from the UUC Motorwerks web site: >"...Conventional thinking would assume that you have two positions, softer >(holes furthest away from the ends of the bar) or stiffer (holes on the >ends of the bar). Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2000 10:43:09 -0400 From: nabli@attglobal.net Subject: Re: [E36M3] AC Schnitzer vs. H&R - Info Sought Rick, If you're looking at Schnitzer coil overs then save some money and look at the Sachs kit. That's who makes it for them and in all likelihood is the same exact kit. Many people have raved about that kit being very streetable and an excellent track setup. BTW, it uses Eibach springs too. :-) The only Schnitzer suspension kit that I can't seem to tie into a specific manufacturer is their non coil over kit. Yes, the shocks and springs are sachs and eibach. But sachs does not an aftermarket performance shock for lowering the M3. If someone knows of one let me know please. Cheers, Jim E.
