I've got 39,000 on my 98 and had one set of frt. rotors replaced under warranty since they were slightly warped after 8 2-day schools. Other than that--nothing but normal maintenance. FWIW I replaced the fuel pump at 65,000 in my 92 325i because I know that most die between there and 100,000 miles and it's easy to do and I can buy parts at a big discount locally. I didn't want to have Big Wally's Truck Stop-Cafe do it when I was half way to Vegas. I don't think you should try skydiving either. (the left rear driveshaft broke off at the diff. apparently having it break out near the wheels is only uncommon (as opposed to unheard of) but breaking it at the diff is a first) in my third race my left rear wheel fell off with the resulting spin out of control that you'd expect to accompany that. maybe race car driving isn't too good for me either, considering the apparent black cloud that accompanies me? ;-( ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

A similar thing happened to my '95 M3 two weeks ago. Instead of breaking though, the fuel hose clamp loosened, causing the hose to pop off and fuel to spray everywhere. > - left rear seat belt tensioner/seat back clip broken. > - sunroof motor making horrible noises, probably a prelude to breaking > altogether > - drivers mirror/visor (or maybe the clip holding it, i'm not sure) messed > up so that the visor won't stay in the clip > - glovebox won't stay closed > - drivers door VERY hard to swing and close. doesn't seem to be the > "common" latch problem, but a problem with the door hinges. > > so... back the subject line... > > am i cursed to have these problems? or am i just expecting too much from an > M3? Do you mean to say that all of the things above happened/broke within the past 30 days? If so, then you have REALLY bad luck. But it sounds like the above items (minus the fuel pump) could have been detected during a pre-purchase inspection (especially the driver's door, sunroof motor, and glovebox door). If you would have noticed these things before you bought the car, your outlook probably wouldn't be as bad as it currently is. The items listed aren't what I would call major flaws/repairs. So get 'em fixed and enjoy the car! :) Nick '95 M3

S'posed to be a high performance pad. I'm hoping it will approach the capabilities of Orange, but without all the noise . . . If you are referring to the new "super sport/super street" that comes powder coated blue then I have. I have been running them for a little over a month now. I have run stock, pagid black 4-2-1, pagid orange, PBR (for less dust), and now the new pagid pad. My experience is that they are better than stock and way better than PBR (really did not like that pad) but not as good a black and far from orange in grab. Comparing dust they are better than stock and about the same as black I have FM10 and its not horrible. As for noise they are quiet as a mouse where the black squealed some and the orange squeal like pigs. While running orange I have had two instructors ask what pad I was running because they were impressed with the stopping power both of which run/ran PF90's. Pagid pads are more money but in my experience they last a long time are worth it. YMMV, Bob Keegan 98M3 (now injected no longer dinanized)

Well the mirrors where stolen and mom drove it over a curb, but not one mechanical problem. Two years this August and the door latch hasn't even acted up (knock on wood). You may have a car with only 32,000 miles on it, but it is five years old. Maybe it needs a little love. Should have gotten a nice 98, first year cars always have problems. Roy

As you know, it has some hard track time on it too. I haven't had much go wrong with the car. I've been through a set of shocks and a few pads and rotors but no major problems. There have been a few small annoying glitches but they were taken care of without too much trouble. We get many months of driving pleasure from the M3 at a time. I do expect more maintenance as the car grows older because of the track time, hopefully these will be things I can do myself. Of course, now that I've said that...
