Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 11:00:02 -0400 From: "Rob C Swift" <RobSwift@PetCentre.com> Subject: [E36M3] BMW CD changer George, I just installed a 6 disc changer in my '97 M3. Very simple, straightforward instalation. Assuming your car IS pre-wired, you will find two connections behind the carpeting on the right hand side of your trunk (mine were actually labeled CD Changer). Once you make the connections, you just have to bolt the changer in place. If your changer does not already have them, you will need 2 6M nuts and 1 6M x 10 bolt. I would reccomend using lockwashers in all 3 places. Don't get over excited like I did, and bolt your unit in place before you have made the connections!! Now if only this factory alarm system was so easy....... I'm led to believe that the car is prewired so the wires should all be there. Although I am thinking of my M Roadster for this, M3 experience may apply. #2. Shark Injector & Conforti Cold Air Intake - from Stan Shaw III

Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 11:07:31 -0400 From: "Stan Shaw III" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: Shark Injector & Conforti Cold Air Intake Just an fyi, for those that care.... I just installed the Conforti Cold Air Intake. I was very impressed with the quality and fit. The noise volume only seems to occur when more than moderate accelerator pedal is used, when it is very acceptable and still reasonable. The Shark Injector was not happy that my car was in reverse and had the backup lights on, but when I changed gears, it installed without problem. The car seems quicker and sounds like it appreciates the extra volume of air, but only time will tell. I intend to autocross and track the car in the next 10 days. I was done in 15 minutes. Toughest part was untangling the damn connectors from the tape. As I recall the instructions are rather cryptic but pictures help a lot. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith W. 99 M3/2 TechnoViolet (Yes, She wanted this color) 97 Z3 Turquoise (Yes, I wanted this color) 97 F650 Black (We couldn't decide so we took it) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ Bimmerphiles, Bimmerheads and Bimmer Enthusiasts Unite! For those of you having concerns (most of us, I imagine) about the ever increasing use of electronic devices while driving...and "personal grooming" among other things, now you can put in your 02 cents worth here: www.driverdistraction.org Take the poll, it might actually make a difference. Manditory M3 content: I can't count the times I've had someone yapping on the phone nearly run me off the road on the way to the track! Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 12:18:42 -0400 From: Skip Bogard <skip.bogard@alumni.duke.edu> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Displacement and revs... From my SAE periodicals, it would appear that the <global> automotive industry is going to move to 48 Volts first. This will then perhaps give BMW the opportunity to introduce its camless electromagnetic valve system they've been showing off. Is that what you meant? You said pneumatic...I don't see that coming... If you want to read a "why?" article, this one is pretty good... http://www.equipauto.com/html/body_en6.7.2.htm one of the few articles that estimates the power consumption of a single valve... Yeah, believe it or not, we're going to 48 volts...hold on... - Skip Brent Williams wrote: > > Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 09:26:23 -0500 > From: "Brent Williams" <brent@williamsconsultingltd.com> > Subject: Displacement and revs... > > I always thought that a large bore and short stroke with pnumatic valves was > the best way to get revs. Any comments on this? What are your sedan seats? Regular, lux, what is the designation? Are the LTW seats identical in dimension to your sedan seats? If I were to order seat covers from seatsavers for the sedan seats would they fit the the LTW seats perfectly? Thanks, Marc Edwards 1995 M3 LTW looking for seat covers
