I sure would like selenoid actuated valves though. then they would be controlled by a computer just like fuel/air mixture etc. Always have perfect valve timing, no real upper limit on rpm and no more overrevs :) the computer would simply stop actuating the valves above a certain rpm. but then I figured if I'm going to go to that amount of trouble, i might as well ditch the valves entirely... and just directly inject everything. not sure what to do with the exhaust though.... whats the deal? aren't selenoids fast and strong? I would have thought that would be a no brainer... Jason

Roy, Go for the Conforti Air Intake system and Conforti chip. I have them along with the Euro HFM and have zero buyer's remorse. I also have the UUC swaybars (love them) and the UUC Strut Barbarian (I like it but would have probably been just as happy with the Motorsport brace except it would have cost a little more and though I would throw my money in the direction of UUC). There is a new Strut Barbarian on the way I believe but I do not know when. I also have the X brace (worth the money and very easy to install) and the UUC clutch stop. On the way is a Ron Stygar clutch with improved bushings. Nest is a couple of driving schools (Nelson Ledges and Mid-Ohio in the fall). Then maybe the UUC exhaust and SSR Integrals or GT 1's. Speaking of which, how do you like both of these items. Lastly, I am still debating a UUC short shifter and eventually a lighted Rob Knob. Best regards, Rich 95 M3

The power of an M3 is not bad to start, the handling is going to make more of a difference initially, particularly if you start in the lower run groups. (my opinion). I just did software and CAI, and like them but I expect to have gained more on the track with the above changes first. Oh great. so the e46 m3 motor is really a truck motor, not a sports car motor. (long stroke). how did they deal with piston speed at 8k rpm? must be a good story here.... and maybe... just maybe this is why PTG isn't using them... Jason

I recently swapped out my stock differential for a 3.46 from BMP. I really love it on the track, and if you don't plan on doing any prolonged high speed driving above say 95 mph it works fine. City driving is great, and a lot more fun because of the extra twist you get in third and forth. I also really like the Dinan exhaust, airflow, throttle body, HFM combo. These mods really bring out the animalistic side of the car. > -----Original Message----- > From: Stan Shaw III [mailto:Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net] > Sent: Friday, July 14, 2000 3:34 PM > To: E36M3 > Subject: [E36M3] help with next mod, life, stock tips, next fish to > get... > > > Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 17:26:15 -0400 > From: "Stan Shaw III" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> > Subject: help with next mod, life, stock tips, next fish to get... > > > I did sway bars, x-brace and strut brace first. It's a heated wire, which gets cooled down from the intake air flow. If the temperature of the wire changes, the electrical resistance of that wire changes also . So, basically you can measure the amount of air that flows thru the HFM by detecting the electrical resistance of that wire. < Then why isnt a HWM for Hot Wire Meter? That is, arent 2 different but similar methods used: one uses the hot wire you refer to, but the other uses a small piece of film. Do we know for sure that our E36s use the wire instead of the film method? _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger
