If you want full details I will post them once I have enough time to write that much. The short story, Crown BMW has had my car more than I have this year, I get no loaner they take 4-5 weeks at a time working on my car, they have ruined a tranny, and recently the engine by putting lifters in wrong. They are morons, BMW sucks, however I love my M3 but the time is coming near that it is time for a new car. Since they couldn't fix my car they have told me to take my car purchasing elsewhere "I had an M3 and M5 on order." So in other words they don't want my business, well now that this is out in the open BMW can kiss my ass. I have been a loyal supporter of their brand of automobiles then the dealership has the balls to tell me to take my business elsewhere. I may buy BMW again once I move back up north but I will never buy another BMW in the state of NC. I am fed up with all the crap they have put me through and the constant lies that they feed me, then legal action is threatened and they tell me to go elsewhere, pardon my French but **** them. Sincerely, William A. Horalcher IV BMW CCA 172352

How? I think that certainly justifies legal action. I've heard of cars that are "lemons." But your M3 must take the prize. Sorry to hear about your troubles. #4. Poll: Valentine 1 - from Ron Buchalski

Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 02:28:30 GMT From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Poll: Valentine 1 I purchased a Valentine 1 and received it last week. Upon turning it on, I was greeted with a full Ka band alert, one Bogey, Front Arrow. This alert lasted for several minutes. The unit seems to do this whenever it's "cold" (hasn't been operating for over three hours). I called Valentine, and they said that they'll check it out and either repair it or replace it. I specifically asked for a replacement unit, because I can't trust a detector that began life with problems. Has anyone else received a flaky V1 detector? -rb ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

#5. Turning lights died. All Six of 'em! - from Michael Ting

Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 21:32:25 -0500 From: "Michael Ting" <lupin@purdue.edu> Subject: Turning lights died. All Six of 'em! Here is the story: I was stopping and I turned on the triangle-hazard light. Suddenly it went off. All the turning lights that were blinking went off (front, side, rear), and the red light (on the triangle button) also went off. I thought it was a fuse problem, but all the fuses on the fuse box were fine. What's the problem here? I hope it's simple enough that I can fix it by myself. Michael Ting --------------------

#6. Re: [E36M3] Water Pump Replacement Cost - from LHassig@aol.com

Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 22:55:11 EDT From: LHassig@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Water Pump Replacement Cost Jeff, you wrote: << Anybody know how much it costs to replace (At a Shop or Dealer) the 1) Water pump 2) thermostat and housing >> Curry's Auto Service, a first-rate shop in Chantilly, VA, charged $485.50 for both jobs done at the same time. It would have been cheaper at a dealer by about $45.00 because the dealer gives a 15% BMW CCA discount on parts and labor. (Curry's charge for the part was already about 15% less than BMW list price; their flat rate is the same as the dealer's, but no discount.) But Curry discovered the problem (coolant condensation on the engine air intake), so I let them fix it. It paid off in the end. A couple of weeks later, they switched my spare to a slightly bent rim that I had been driving. So that means two tires removed from rims and reinstalled then balanced. Amount due? Zip! I'm not certain, but I think it's a freebie, labor wise, for the thermostat and housing if you replace them at the same time as the water pump. Lee Hassig (lhassig@aol.com) '95 M3

I am simply going to suggest to BMW NA that I am not getting my money's worth when it comes to service or support, and that they should handle their dealership accordingly. It almost makes me want to test drive a <gasp> IS300! Go figure. Brent

#8. tested a Porsche 911 this weekend...questions - from Chris Casey

Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 06:30:33 -0700 (PDT) From: Chris Casey <ccasey1@yahoo.com> Subject: tested a Porsche 911 this weekend...questions This past weekend, I swung by Carlsen Porsche in Mountain View and took a test drive in a 996 911 C2. The engine was bliss (not to mention that beautiful howl of aftermarket exhaust - which the girlfriend said was too loud :-( ), but even more noticeable was the lack of body roll in corners. Now, the car still understeered in the same corners where my M3 understeers, so I don't know that I can say it was handling "better", but I do know that the lack of roll was inspiring. My question is, how do I get rid of my car's roll? My M3 is a 99, completely stock except for some missing foglamps thanks to a friendly neighborhood thief. I'd just like opinions on what to do to make the car feel and handle better. Thanks, Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo!
