I think it was Bavarian Autosport (http://www.bavauto.com/spec1.html). Pretty good deal in my opinion. Looks a lot like the Motive Brake Bleeder (and Jim Powell's). >>>>Anyone have any comments on the quality of that brake bleeder? No but I have the Motive Brake Bleeder and think it is essentially a preassembled Jim Powell model for the most part and very effective (http://www.motiveproducts.com/home.htm) at ~$40 >>>>Anyone have JimP's url handy for a comparison? http://www.bmwmpower.com/TechProc/bleeder.htm Talk to you all later. I copied it from Snap-on about 25-30 years ago. There are copies of *MY* 8^) kit being sold for $40. Not really a bad deal all-in-all. #7. Novice Stock Stereo Upgrade advice - from Paul Elliott
Top
Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 20:56:41 -0400 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: Novice Stock Stereo Upgrade advice My '99 M3 has the stock stereo installed. For the kind of listening I do, the Harmon Kardon would have been ideal....What would be the best way for me to upgrade my system to get clarity of highs and lows which I hear in the Harmon Kardon...I realize the HK is not a terribly popular system in these cars, however, next to the standard stock system, its a major improvement. I dont need Sub Woofers, or anything fancy....Is there an upgrade path toward the HK system? If not, would it suffice for me to get better speakers? Or, should I get a new receiver as well? For my purposes, is a separate amp necessary? Thanks. _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger

#9. Max speed in each gear? - from dave spragg

Date: Mon, 17 Jul 2000 23:11:37 -0400 From: "dave spragg" <dave@spragg.com> Subject: Max speed in each gear? I was just prowling the web for max speed of my 1999 with the stock 245/40-17 Pilot Sports on the back in various gears. I really want accurate numbers for 1st, 2nd, and third. Stock diff is a 3.23 as I understand it and I have the stock software with whatever rev limit that is. Is this on the web someplace? Is it in my owners manual that happens to be in another state at the moment? :) Thanks, Dave Spragg 99 M3 Sharked (well... intake only so far ;) Natick, MA

Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 00:46:08 EDT From: LoweSeaton@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Max speed in each gear? Dave, If you just want max speeds in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear, you could find out on your own very easily. It would only take about 1/4 mile and 14 seconds. :) Seriously, just find a road with little traffic. Then just run it to redline in each of the first 3 gears. Don't worry about over revving. The computer will cut off the engine. Basically, 1st = 30 mph 2nd = 60 mph 3rd = 90 mph 4th = 120 mph 5th = 137 mph (governed) Report back what you learn. Thanks. Lowell Seaton '95 M3/2 - JimC software (no governor and 7,200 rpm), 3.15 rear end, & 245/40 tires = 165+ mph in 5th gear! Dallas, Texas BMW CCA #131505
