Would it be better to install >a >new antennae or to leave the factory head in place? if you really need good radio reception, you'll probably need a "real" antenna. one that sticks out of the car. M3s have "hidden" antennas which suck. that's why they gave you two, to make up for the fact that they suck. the radio reception of the stock setup rates maybe 5 out of 10. by only using one of the hidden antennas you're at about 2 out of 10. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Daanesh is now at The Information Foundry at Robert Bentley so we can look forward to great things. I was looking for exact speeds as I was figuring out if a newly designed autocross course would meet the speed limits we had to contractually agree to for the site. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/image/drivetrain/diff_323.jpg Thanks All!! This formula gives you speed in gear per RPM, just mulitply by your redline or shift point ,... and you have a very accurate speed. =((1.818*3.14159*((A$3*B$3/100)/25.4+0.5*C$3)))/D$3/E$3 The 1.818 converts inches mm to miles A$3 is tire width, 245 B$3 is profile, C$3 rim diameter 17, D$3 trans. gear ratio 2.49, E$3 is rear ratio 3.23. You don't know how good it is to have fully functional a/c in south Florida with 100+ degrees. For the record, the fuse in my 95 m3 was 41. I think the production date was 10?/94. THanks again! Milo

Does anyone have that saved? I can't find the e-mail search page for the E36 M3 list either. Thanks, -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 21:57:01 EDT From: JimShadow@aol.com Subject: Coolant Level Gruppe, I apologize in advance if this has been recently covered, but........ tonight my "Check Coolant Level" light came on. I peeked under the hood and sure enough, I can't see any coolant. Now I know for sure that last week there was sufficient coolant in the radiator. Car has been running just fine. Should I have the car taken in to be looked at, or just add coolant and keep an eye on it. Production date is 7/95. Warranty is about to expire........ TIA, JIM

#7. M3 handling traits-sedan vs. coupe - from Pieter Van Dien
Top
Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 22:32:53 -0400 From: "Pieter Van Dien" <pvd1@worldnet.att.net> Subject: M3 handling traits-sedan vs. coupe I've heard a lot about the understeering of the M3 and have experienced that on slow autocross courses and slower track turns. However, I've also experienced tail wagging and oversteer during high speed transitions (one of which sent me through a fence). This usually comes when transitioning too quickly at high speed. For example, when going through a slalom at speed (third gear), turn too quickly and the back end will start to step out, usually very quickly. Is this a common experience for everyone? I have a '97/4, if this is not common, is it possible the sedans are stiffer in the rear causing more pronounced oversteer vs. the coupes? What would be the best steps to counteract this stomach-sinking maneuver (besides slowing down)? More air in the rear tires, less air in the front? Soften the rear suspension? Stiffen the front suspension? Currently I have the maximum camber possible in the rear without crash bolts. Thanks for any comments/suggestions. Piete

I'm looking for, but I know we have probably been through this: I wanna get wheels and some r compound tires (probably Kumho) for my 99 M3. I have stock suspension (minus x-brace and hopefully eibach sway bars as soon as they are available again) and I don't plan on putting in any aftermarket springs or dambers. I also want to be able to rotate the wheels so I'm thinking going with 17 X 8.5 and putting 245/40's all around. Will this work for the front? Are 235/40's better on 17 X 8.5 wheels? Also, I'm not looking at buying Fikse are any other wheel thats well over $300 a pop. Not worth it considering I'll only use them a few times a year. My main reason for doing this is to get some better auto-x times and save my Pilots from premature destruction.....Again, thank you all!! Andy K.

Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 20:57:58 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] - AutoX Tires & Wheels Hi Andy, Unfortunatly Kuhmos aren't available in a 245/40-17. Most people get the 225/45, which is really a 235/40. They do have a 245/45 but this is way too tall and will hurt acceleration and probably rub. The 255/40 is the next step up but this one probably won't fit up front without rolling the fenders and using spacers. Personally I'm using the 225/45 on 7.5" rims. Another Alternative is to go with a different tire. Forget the GForce for AutoX. It's really just a track tire. You can get the Yoko autocross compound, which is a step down from the Kuhmo in performance but do last a bit longer. I don't know what sizes they are available in, though. Or, you can go with the best and say Hoosier Daddy. They are expensive at around $180 a pop but the grip and turn-in are second to none. They are also lighter than the others. And available in 245/40. But they are only good for around 100 runs if you are good to them. Or you can flatspot them and they'll be ruined after only a few runs. Many of the Nationals Competitors run on Hoosiers. I can't even win my local class so I stick with the cheaper tires. As for wheels, I use the stock 10 Spokes from a '95. Or call Tire Rack. They can give you a good range of wheels in different weights and prices. Probably the best combination of low price and weight is the SSR integrals and GT2s. I think that the Integrals are in the $350 range and they only weigh about 18 lbs. And look pretty good, too. They have a lot of wheels in the 25lb range that go for $150-$200. Good luck! -Matt Andy Korczynski <Andy@casskor.com> wrote: Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 22:02:59 -0500 From: Andy Korczynski Subject: Ok, I searched around the archive but couldn't find the specific info.
