Needs to be in good shape and well maintained. Close to stock is preferred as it will be driven in Chicago, i.e., engine mods=good, suspension mods=bad. Let me if anyone has any leads. Thanks John

Real smooth move. Too much power out of a turn. I guess I was trying to impress the girl I had in the car & boy did I NOT do a good job of it. Kids, don't try this at home I also had to replace some other miscellaneous hardware, along with the halfshaft. I think the total repair bill from the shop (I'm no mechanic, just a bad driver), parts and labor, was sadly around $1200. -Scott 98 IL "Mein M 3" ----Original Message Follows---- From: John Genereux <white98m3@yahoo.com> Reply-To: John Genereux <white98m3@yahoo.com> To: E36M3 <e36m3@bmwmpower.com> Subject: [E36M3] Rear lower control arms Date: Tue, 1 Aug 2000 16:17:34 -0500 Date: Tue, 1 Aug 2000 14:12:05 -0700 (PDT) From: John Genereux <white98m3@yahoo.com> Subject: Rear lower control arms Hello all, Has anyone replaced the rear lower control arms in the M3? I had my car in the dealer and they said that it was bent. I have no idea how it happened. Is there a good write up around on this procedure or does anyone have any tips? Just one more thing to add to my suspension install this weekend. Thanks. JOHN 98 M3 slightly bent :( ===== ///M3's and Jet Skis/// __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? And even the single-adjustable kind you describe >can usually be converted by KONI in Kentucky, TrueChoice in Ohio, or the >KONI >Rebuild Center in Southern California. yeah i meant on our car. darnit. lots of people get easy to adjust rears, straight from koni, but we M3 people are stuck with the PIA ones unless you want to pay to get them converted. i was actually going to get mine converted (to double adjustible AND externally adjustible) but i found out that the conversion actually cost alot more then the shocks themselves. not to mention that i'd be left with no shocks for quite a while. ;-P so remember... if you're gonna get them converted, do it before you get them on your car. it'll make life easier, and noticing how much extra the conversion cost is will be eaier to ignore, since you'll pay for it all at once. ;-) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

#5. Sway Group Purchase Update - from Mdriver13@aol.com

Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 12:45:14 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: Sway Group Purchase Update Today's follow-up on sway bar GP: If Top-Notch sells out of all ten, you can call Auto Additions in Allentown, PA. They will give you the same deal at $300 for the Eibach sways and they have 6-7 sets in stock. Call Phil at 1-800-334-6074 or 610-391-1126, tell them you are one of the E36M3 group members. They would like a minimum of three orders for this price. Please let me know if you purchase from Auto Addictions. Have fun!!!!! Love the power of Group buying ;-)) Thanks, Suzy and to all. I think between Suzy and I searching high and low, we have uncovered all of the currently available Eibach sways in this Country. Well, probably most anyway <g>. Post note: This is the first time I have helped put together a GP. I have probably done some things wrong, but trust me my heart's in the right place. I may not even take part in this, since I'm working with a lister to buy his "still in the box" sways. Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA 1st AS - '97 2nd AS - '98 & '99 mov'in to ESP in '01

And yes they're worth every damn cent.....Sean >is right... front rebound does does reduce understeer, but Sean increasing >bump in the rear really makes a difference :-) All it takes is a flathead >screwdriver..... steve. you may be ths very person to ask this to. everone else has answered "i don't know" ;-) from dealing with my race cars, i know that bump adjustments are better for dealing with suspension tuning. we almost NEVER play with rebound to "tune" the car. we set rebound to match the spring rates and do "changes" with bump. so yes... dealing with rebound only is a compromise. but you CAN do it. ;-) so... the question is... "why are single adjustible KONIs rebound only?" - is it a cost thing? (rebound adjustment is cheaper to give?) - is it not really meant for tuning like i'm using it for? - something else i haven't thought of? ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

#8. Good Dealership - from Jay
Top
Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2000 10:17:51 -0700 From: jay@pactitle.com (Jay) Subject: Good Dealership I was going to lunch the other day and all of a sudden it sounded as though I had blown an exhaust gasket or something. I heard this bang and then loss of power and what sounded like late seventies glass pack noises. I work in Hollywood Ca and the Century BMW in North Hollywood is close and I buy all my parts there other than braked pads rotors JC stuff ect. So I limp over to the dealership at lunch and ask the serviceman if they could possible put the car up and check the exhaust out. And that I had to have it looked at today as I was taking the car up to Carmel in the morning. He said "Sure I'll be right back". He drives away and I see him about 20 minutes later and he asked me if anyone had done any work on the car lately. I said no. And he replied that my oxygen sensor had come loose and caused the hole in the exhaust. A replied as a matter of fact I had just replaced it myself about two weeks ago. [Obviously not very well.] He said they could just clean it out and it should'nt be a problem, and that it would take only a few minutes. About 20 minutes later I ask an attendent if they could check on my car that I'm sure that it's done and probably sitting somewhere. He replies that it's probably getting washed. "I don't want it washed I just wanted it fixed I said. 2 minutes later up pulls my 95dakarM3 just washed and vacumed. The attended say's here you go sir and I said "no charge" he replied "no charge". I have since wrote a letter to the service manager who took care of me and thanked him. I read a lot about bad service on this list so I thought I would share my story. Jay Johnnson 95dakarM3 stock other than JC chip & intake Ps: My car now has 95,00 miles on it and I'm sure original shocks. what do you recommend for replacements The car has no other suspension mods, and other than a few spirited canyon drives it's not likely to see the track.
