Date: Wed, 9 Aug 2000 10:40:58 -0400 From: lee.leslie@firstunion.com Subject: Range FWIW - The range function on my 97' M3 is a bit screwy as well... often I will fill it up & it will read 450+miles.. (Like this car will go 450+ on a tank.. 400 perhaps on a trip going 60 with no stops but even then you are pushing it)... it will quickly get down to 300 or so & then be pretty accurate until I get to about 100 miles.. the last 100 miles 100-50 is more like 30 miles and 50-0 is more like 15-20 miles.. Is this the norm? I can't imagine that a dealer would even attempt to fix it.. ideas?

I have done a similar inquiry and found two locations that I know of that sell other applications for ITG filters. Josh at Europsort (http://www.sharked.com/) Boston Performance Group (http://www.b-p-g.com/) ITG has lots of European applications I believe. Sorry, no application for a Toyota Tacoma though. Regards, Rich 95 M3 - with ITG filter on JC Intake 99 Tacoma - no ITG here (shhh....K&N) but not for trying. Probably giving the K&N a pitch and putting back in a paper filter.

#6. HID retrofit using Ford parts - from Chester Wong
Top
Date: Wed, 9 Aug 2000 09:43:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: <E36> HID retrofit using Ford parts Well, I finally got around to retrofitting one of the US headlamps with the Ford HID parts. I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself ;) I will be taking pictures of the beam pattern and will post them shortly....I just have to find a nice area that is dark (where in Brooklyn would I find that? I guess I have to visit a few friends in Jersey who live in the middle of nowhere ;). At any rate, the beam pattern is very good. There is a slight hot spot right in the middle. This is because the lamps are designed to work with a bulb that has a coating on the tip. The Ford HID bulb does not have this coating so light goes out the front of the bulb. To get an idea of what I'm talking about, point your browser to: <http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=838931&a=6713718&p=22496723&Sequence=0> This project was more of an exercise for me to have fun and see how it looks like. I really do not plan on installing these lamps back into my car since I have euro lamps and will be retrofitting them with HID bulbs as well. Actually, I might use them until Aug 30th just to see how I like HID. At any rate, I'm really looking to recover the cash I plopped down for the kit and if you would like to upgrade, I would consider a swap of your stock US spec lamps (must be in good condition...mine only have 3k miles on them) for my US spec lamps with the HIDs retrofitted plus the cost for parts (I paid slightly higher than what Ben's source sold the parts for...consider the higher price an installation fee ;) So if you're interested in doing the swap, contact me privately (chester_p_wong@yahoo.com). Thanks for the bandwidth, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo! Invites. http://invites.yahoo.com/

IMO the novelty of the flag wore off after awhile, so I removed it. Here are two pictures of it de-flaged and de-riced (tow hook single wiper and a few other items). http://sites.netscape.net/850im3/mym3.jpg http://sites.netscape.net/850im3/mym31.jpg Here is the main site to that car: http://sites.netscape.net/850im3/mym3 The site is VERY problematic so be patient as you may need to make several attempts to get on it. #8. [E36M3] my M3's owner is a quitter - from Sean Hester

Date: Wed, 09 Aug 2000 10:11:06 PDT From: "Sean Hester" <seanh_race@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] my M3's owner is a quitter well... i'm throwing in the towel. after my first 95 M3 fell apart, (mostly because of hard track use) i bought another one. this one was never going to see the track and be pampered all it's life. but... it's falling apart too. i just got the licence plates two days ago and i've already spent over $1500 repairing it. so i'm trading it this afternoon for an S4. i guess that means i need to unsubscribe from the list (assuming i can figure out how to, without incurring the ridicule of the list ;-). it's been fun being here. if anyone has questions about e36 M3s (especially stereo, suspension, and MOST IMPORTANTLY driving skills and tips), feel free to e-mail me privately. maybe i'll see lots of you again in a few months/years once i can get my hands on an e46 M3. P.S. if anyone's going to be at the ICSCC race at portland this weekend, i'll give you a test drive in an S4. ;-P (it's green with light grey interior) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

At that time I discovered that the system didn't detect the hood being opened. It does now! :-) -rb >From: Skip Bogard <skip.bogard@alumni.duke.edu> >Reply-To: skip.bogard@alumni.duke.edu >To: Ron Buchalski <rbuchals@hotmail.com> >CC: E36M3 <e36m3@bmwmpower.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] Fixing the Hood Switch >Date: Wed, 09 Aug 2000 11:18:31 -0400 > >So, how did you know it wasn't working properly? That was some idle speculation I didn't mean to post the digest. I was wondering if you might have mounted the changer, run cables or made connections on the passenger side of the car. If I wanted to pick up generator to battery noise - either inductively or through a floating ground - these are some things I would consider. -John '96 318is On Tue, 8 Aug 2000, Paul Elliott wrote: > Yes, the CD changer IS in the trunk, and its on the driver side of center > near the trunk opening.
