#1. [E36M3] EMERGENCY! (was: Noise is Back) - from twisty M3

Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 07:54:15 PDT From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] EMERGENCY! (was: Noise is Back) EMERGENCY part numbers or other sources needed ASAP. Both of the clamps that hold the swaybar/bushings in place have torn off!!! Need them replaced now because I can't afford to be without a car for a day right now (father is in the hospital 65 miles away need to visit him). Does anyone have the stock part numbers? Here's the story: It appears it's not really the bushings or links themselves that are making noise. Within the last two blocks (4-5 turns) to my office this morning, I heard an incredible amount of odd clunking. Park the car, get out lay down on the floor w/flashlight and look around and feel the tightness of some bolts... Nothing! Then... look at the bushings and BAM!!!! The freakin' clamps (don't know the 'real' name) are BOTH broken/hanging free. Thanks to Bobby and Ron for their offers and advice. Thanks to Jim P. for the TriPoint suggestion (any idea if they'd have these parts? I'll call them in an hour to check anyway if you don't know). Thanks to Jim for the offer of Donna's services also. ;-) I'll be sure something breaks again next time she's near by. Thanks for any help Jonathan L. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

#2.Supra Twin Turbo - from Rob

Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 09:05:31 -0600 From: "Rob" <motor@cadvision.com> Subject: <OT> Supra Twin Turbo Guys, I'll try to keep this WOB short but I can't stand all this Supra thrashing. I'm a hard core BMW guy (2 M5's, 330is, 325i, 535i, M3, Tii, etc) but you are crazy to not give the Supra TT's major credit. I had a '94 TT with basic upgrades ($2000) that layed down 400rwhp/436rwtq and was bulletproof! Even the most heavily modified E36 turbo or SC car has a hard time doing this and you'll NEVER see an E36 lay down 600+rwhp with STOCK internals when Supras do it all day long. Sure the Supra doesn't have the track "heritage" of the BMW's but 0.90G in stock form and 12.8" directionally vaned-4piston calipers brakes, aluminum suspension components, Getrag 6-speed, oil cooler, etc in stock form is nothing to laugh about. Sure my 3375lb Supra wasn't as tossable at the track as my '98 M3 is but with 400rwhp and real brakes my M3 can't touch the lap times the Supra did. All that being said I love BMW's and I did sell the Supra to get an M5 and M3 so this is NOT a BMW bashing e-mail :-) Just remember not to try racing a Supra TT unless the driver looks like he's alseep or you have some serious mods....a stock TT will run low 13's at 105+mph. Regards, Rob '98 M3 '91 M5

Oh, on replying and copying the entire digest back to us. Could you guys cut that out! Once is forgiven, now it has become an every day deal. Geez. Maybe Suzy needs to crack that whip on some of ya! :-) Carlos Motor City Chapter ....me grumpy? nah. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo! That 65 mile drive just turned into 155 miles... good thing I like driving so much. ;) Jonathan L. > >EMERGENCY part numbers or other sources needed ASAP. They used a "slim jim" type tool and pushed it out from the back accessing it between the window and door. Just like using a "slim jim". The best part was they did all the work right in my driveway in about an hour. You'd never know I ever had a dent. Great company and I would use them again. Pretty inexpensive as well. (apparently i'm not as famous as i thought. ;-) and... i'm also surprised how much interest there was in my "leftovers". i got far too many replies to send you all private messages. maybe i should have had higher prices? ;-P but, sorry, it seems everything is spoken for. most of it was raided last night by a list member who has been to my house before. ;-) thanks! ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
