Jonathan Caldito is clearly right, don't change the auto tranny fluid, and if you still insist, use only the BMW/ESSO specified stuff. Sorry for the mis-information. My complaints about Redline (and its <mis>application to manual trannies) still applies. - Skip Skip Bogard wrote: > > After numerous correspondences, I am convinced that Redline > does not have any chemists, only marketing people. I had them on my car for a week after the school finished, and it was fine, even when the brakes were cold. Just be a little more attentive for those STOP NOW OR DIE situations. It's possible that the brakes may not stop you in the shortest distance if they are cold, but if you're alert, it's not a problem. I haven't had too many STOP NOW OR DIE situations in 25 years of driving... -rb >Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2000 22:25:52 -0400 >From: "Adam Fila" <ylf@mindless.com> >Subject: E36 M3 brake pad change + 8/21 Summit Point school > >Is it safe to change pads at home and drive the 300 or so miles to the >track on PF90's ? I had the same reaction to your post as Alex did but I went back to the orig question to make sure and saw that it was an auto tranny and decided to pass. ;-) My memory is bad but I recall a few months ago Brett replying similarly to someone with an E34 with an auto trans that wanted to change the fluid. Basically he said to leave it alone unless he wanted to end the tranny's life in a hurry. I've never seen Brett post here so I'll assume he's not on the list. He's on the E30 M3 list though. ;-) Carlos Motor City Chapter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Again Jon Calidito is correct, this 100% agrees with what Brett said, and anything to the contrary is misinformation. Which is why I retracted my statement to ok Mobil fill.
