It is offered by OnTrack Insurance. The way this one works is that you take out liability with your normal insurance agency. Then you get the comprehensive covered by OnTrack. Their rates are reasonable and this is a specific driving school insurance. It does not cover you for racing, only drivers schools. I took it out on my LTW and so far so good. The only bad thing about it is that if you do have a wreck on track then the deductible is 20%. But in my eyes this is better than having to fight out your case you court and pay the lawyers fees. I know I would have to do that with my insurance company, USAA, as a friend did. Take a look at their website at www.ontrackinsurance.com Another good thing about it is that they will let you add your modifications to the cars value. You just list them out when you get a quote and they will take this into consideration. I think it would be worth some peoples time to look into it. Let me know what you guys think about it. Don't know about other states but our state has state set wording for all policies and reacted to some bozo committing fraud by twice telling his insurance company that the Porsche got messed up on a private way when he saw a deer... The insurance companies lobbied the state insurance board and changed the wording to make driving school and other such things be specifically not covered, in fact the wording is soooo wide open that you would very well not be covered if your car got hurt at high speed on the highway. I have gone over this with licensed insurance folk, my personal lawyer and several folk up high in the BMW CCA, no one thinks we are covered here in MA as of Jan 1, 2000. As a result of this I purchased supplementary insurance for driving schools for my beloved M3. Dave Spragg dave@spragg.com Natick, MA 99 M3 Sharked -----Original Message----- From: Thomas E. Tice" <tetice@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Insurance and Driving Schools While there is no problem with requesting an insurance certification form, I would recommend that you tread lightly here. I have discussed/debated this issue at length with my agent, who also happens to be my brother and also happens to be with State Farm. We still don't see eye to eye but in the end, you should be covered. The agents receptiveness to reassure you that your car is covered at a drivers school can and will vary greatly depending on the agent and their understanding of what goes on at these events. The bottom line is that in the unfortunate event of a track accident, your agent will have very little say so in whether your insurance will cover it or not. This falls on the adjusters and can go up the chain from there but that chain doesn't directly involve your agent. The agent can attempt to influence the adjusters if he/she values you as a customer but that's about it. The adjusters usually understand that your agent gets a commission on your premiums and calibrates them accordingly. The bottom line (as I understand it) is that your insurance will cover you in all situations with the EXCEPTION of a competitive event. Note that you have no coverage at an autocross by this definition. Since most are relatively low speed events the risk isn't too great. This is one of the reasons why BMW CCA run driver schools are advertised as non competitive driver training events and do not even allow timing of laps. I have seen 4 or 5 track accidents involving street cars and in every case their insurance did pay (including one covered by my brother). In some cases though, these people were shortly thereafter looking for a new insurance company (a pretty foolish move on the ins. company's part given what we typically pay). So you certainly don't want to give the insurance company any reason to suspect this is anything other than a driver education session - which it is. If your car showed up at the body shop after an event with a stopwatch taped to the steering wheel, you wouldn't stand a chance. Similarly, discussing the nature of these events ahead of time with your agent may not lead to good things either depending on their frame of mind. This is one of those cases where you shouldn't ask a question if you aren't prepared to deal with the answer. My view is that insurance is about as black and white as the tax law - you can never be sure until after the audit. In reality, discussing lap times in a forum such as this could possibly be used against you??? Have fun but be careful. They were previously (arbitrarily) set at middle front/soft rear and when cornering hard, the car was a little twitchy. Today, it was rock solid! I went through my favorite set of local twisty roads and, at one point, I was going as fast as I had gone with the BFGoodrich gForce R1's with suspension version 2.0 (Bilstein/H&R/RD bars) and this time I was on street tires (Goodyear Eagle GT+4's). I think that the ride may be a little more harsh but with handling like that, it is definitely worth it. -Wayne P.S. Ok, so the tires were really SO2 Pole Positions.

I didn't have a chance to change the fuel filter this weekend. I did manage to help Dave Ngo install his Ron Stygar short shifter and managed to whack my head on the open door while crawling out from under the car. I haven't had a knot on my head since a while ago....man, that sucked big time! The welt still hurtts =( Anyway, I'll probably get around to doing that sometime this week when I get the car back up onto stands to swap sway bars, bleed the brakes, and change the fuel filter. Maybe I'll even R&R the JTD RSMs...I think I need to put the HIS bushings in. > I keep my fire extinguisher nearby when doing this procedure. :-) Good tip! If it's just the jet itself that's clogged up (with wax or something), just take a teeny pin and clean it out with that. You can also (re)align the jets this same way - stick a pin in there & orient the jet to where you want it to spray. Hope that helps, Andrej '97 M3

#10.BMW ten double flat spokes (one set of four and one individu - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 11:16:54 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: <FS> BMW ten double flat spokes (one set of four and one individu al wheel) http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1090300&a=8051604 Here are the pictures of the BMW ten double flat spokes (the style from the 95 M3). These wheels are 7.5" x 17" and weigh something like 21 lbs. The only history I know of them is they came from a certified 95 M3 which had 60,000 miles. Two of them have a small bend in the outer wheel flange but nothing which could not be straightened (probably only a cosmetic problem as the tires were still mounted okay, the tires were not damaged and everything balanced properly with a reasonable amount of wheel weight). I have included close-ups of these two wheels to help you evaluate the severity of the dents. The prior owner did not think any of these wheels were bent. I dismounted the old tires and cleaned the wheels really well. I mounted each of these wheels on my car and spun them at various speeds to see if I could visibly detect any wobble (i.e., bent rims). I was unable to visibly detect whether any of these wheels were bent. I am not an expert and I am not saying with 100% certainty these wheels are 100% straight and true...but they do visibly appear to be straight and true. Overall, the wheels are in reasonably good cosmetic shape (no curb rash and only very difficult to see scratches/marks on the surface or edge of the wheel face) and only minor evidence of use (tire weight removal mark, etc.). Cosmetically, I would say these wheels are about 95% and would make great track wheels or very good street wheels. The pictures posted here have been reduced some for storage (54 - 90k each). If you would like any of the original pictures (about 200k each and approximately twice the size), please email me (rdorffer@cleindians.com) and let me know which ones you want. I will accept and entertain offers (separate offers on the set of four and the individual wheel #5) through Friday, August 25, 2000 at 12:00 PM EST. Please email me at rdorffer@cleindians.com if you would like to make an offer. Best offer received as of Friday, August 25, 2000 at 12:00 PM EST takes them (buyer also pays for UPS shipping while seller pays for packaging and handling). If anyone is concerned with the two dents previously mentioned or would like to have these wheels refinished, assuming they make the best offer, I would be happy to deliver them to Wheel Collision Center (http://www.wheelcollision.com/) in Columbus, Ohio. You will have to pay me for the wheels and pay Wheel Collision Center for any straightening/refinishing they perform but it will expedite the process and save on the shipping as Wheel Collision Center would ship the wheels directly to you (and I will charge nothing for my delivery to Wheel Collision Center). Otherwise, buyer pays shipping from me to seller. Regards, Rich 95 M3 (still with it's original stock wheels)
