#1. UUC ERK (and short shifter components) - from Chester Wong

Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2000 21:37:56 -0700 (PDT) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: <FS> UUC ERK (and short shifter components) Hi guys. I really don't want to get into a debate about which shifter is better, etc, etc. If you want, e-mail me and I'll give you my honest observations. Anyway, what I have for sale is a UUC Competition Short Shifter for the M3 (not sure about what other cars it's suitable for..check out http://www.uucmotorwerks.com for info). This item was purchased during the last group purchase, which would have been sometime in Feb, 1999 or so. Here's some info that you need to know prior to entering this transaction with me: 1) I'm really selling the ERK since there are some defects with the other components that I would feel right charging for the other parts. 2) The shift lever is a bent, crimped MZ3 shift lever. There is some wear on the pivot ball--one particular area has a some strange gouge that's oddly shaped like the H pattern...go figure. 3) The thermoplastic bushing on the pivot (where the selector rod goes) has a slight hairline crack in it. It doesn't look too bad, but I'm unsure of how it will affect performance down the road. 4) The UUC ERK is in good condition. I used a dremel tool to remove the tabs of the old nylon cup because it wouldn't come out. I think if the slots in the ERK were ramped, it would have come out rather easily. Thus, there is a barely noticeable scratch in the nylon cup retaining slots from there the carbon cutoff wheel made contact. 5) The nylon cup removal tool, allen key, 4 allen screws, and delrin bushings are included. 6) I think I can also fish out the original instructions that were given to me with the kit. --> Please note that the following were not written in my version of the instructions: - In order to fully engage reverse and 5th, you might want to consider grinding away some of the shift carrier arm. I had this problem with my gear engagement but since that step wasn't in my instructions, I never did it. I later found out when I watched Ben install one in someone's car that he removed some material. Since mine was already installed, it would have been a pain in the ass to remove so I left it alone. - In order to fully seat the nylon cup, it is necessary to use a flat head screwdriver and push the nylon plastic near the tabs until you hear the positive *click*. This ensures that the cup is fully seated and that there is minimal friction on the pivot ball. In addition to the parts you will get from me, you will need to head to your friendly local dealer and obtain the following parts: - 2 yellow spacer rings (25 11 1 220 439) - 1 circlip (25 11 1 220 379) - 1 nylon cup (25 11 1 469 397) If you will be installing the delrin bushings: - 1 guide pin (the infamous bitch of a clip) (25 11 2 221 849) - $5.92 I'm asking for $80 OBO + $6 S&H for the ERK. E-mail me privately if you're interested. Pictures of the items can be found at: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=838931&a=8472679 Thanks for the bandwidth, Chester BTW, I'm neither associated with UUC nor Ron Stygar. I'm friends with the folks at UUC and Ron....I just have a UUC shifter lying around that I don't need collecting dust. ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Where is the joy in shopping for "lead substitute", getting 10 MPG, and going slower? I don't get it. My childhood dream was a '66 426 Hemi Charger. I had the car but not the engine...I had a 383 instead. But that Charger lacked a lot of safety features we take for granted in the M3: 1. no headrests to prevent whiplash ... wasn't even an option 2. had a brake master cylinder with only one reservoir ... a single leak ANYWHERE and you had no brakes 3. had drum brakes for that matter 4. no side impact protection, 5. no seat backs that would resist breaking.... Now that I have my '95 M3, I have a car that is - Faster than the '66 Hemi in the 1/4 mile - Has a higher top end - Does it all for 3X better gas mileage I got with my 383 4 barrel. Are you sure that your childhood dream doesn't need to be chased but that ~it chased you~ instead? I always wanted a vintage caliber car that I could hold onto forever, and the M3 is it! - Skip Midn James Consalvi wrote: > > Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 07:44:41 -0400 > From: "Midn James Consalvi" <m021344@nadn.navy.mil> > Subject: '95 Supercharged M3 for sale > > Hey guys, > > I am selling my car to chase my childhood dream of owning a classic mustang, > so I am buying a '70 Mustang BOSS 302. REALLY unfortunate TYPO. ;-( i HATE bfg-gforce tires. they aren't any fun, especially for driver schools. for hard core pro racing they DO perform well, and have good heat charastics, but even though they are performing well, (lap time wise)you spend the whole race hating them. (and wondering how you can be turning good laps, with tires this jittery and scary) so... i don't recommend them for driver schools AT ALL. P.S. i do actually HAVE some too, because i couldn't bring myself to "use them up". i just hated them too much. ;-P _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. #10. Water pump failures - '95 M3 - from AVUSM3@aol.com

Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 13:12:59 EDT From: AVUSM3@aol.com Subject: Water pump failures - '95 M3 What is the earliest mileage that anyone has experienced, or heard of, a plastic impeller water pump failure on a '95? I had 37k miles on my '95 and I am considering replacing the water pump before Road Atlanta next month. Is there anyway to tell if the impeller is plastic or metal from the outside (like a part number?) Thanks, John '95 M3 Avus Blue
