I thought those of you modifying your M3 (or just considering it) would find it interesting. http://www.grmotorsports.com/antirollbars.html Enjoy, Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Date: Wed, 06 Sep 2000 14:02:31 -0400 From: Skip Bogard <skip.bogard@alumni.duke.edu> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Accutorq Torque Limiting Sockets I thought about buying these, but since they don't come in 17mm for 40 ft-lb, 60 ft-lb, and 80 ft-lb increments, they don't fit my method for incrementally torquing down my wheels. If I were a wheel monkey and did nothing but mount tires for a living, I could see how they'd be marginally better....than torqing them down with 270 ft-lbs from an air impact gun. Or, if I were racing that could certainly be a time saver, and especially a potential saver of rotors in an endurance race. But, I can't see buying an Accutorq in only 80 ft-lbs. I guess getting back to the original post which asked: >Anyone know where to get those cool Torque Sticks that allow >you to safely use an impact wrench to tighten lug nuts? >(17mm and 80lb/ft) ..... I question the use of "safely" ...in a race, brake rotors might be disposable afterwards, but for most of us they are not. - Skip

#8. Supercharger and fan blade clearance problem. - from AVolin@sah.com
Top
Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 14:00:06 -0600 From: AVolin@sah.com Subject: Supercharger and fan blade clearance problem. I bought my '95 M3 not even a year ago, and it came with the Dinan supercharger - I think the powerdyne. Within a few months, the fan blade broke, and the shards damaged the radiator and the belts. We replaced the radiator, blade, and belts, but before long I heard a knocking and sure enough, the blade was contacting the shroud. We switched to a narrower blade, rather than the wider stock M3 blade, and talked to Dinan, which said they recommend using a narrower blade (good call). Bad news -- the narrow blade just broke, and shards have damaged the radiator, it looks like. Any advice out there on how to prevent this from recurring? It sure is tight up front, and although it looks good when it leaves the shop, apparently just driving it around causes enough motion to create problems. Andy

From your description, it sounds like maybe the motor is shifting enough during hard acceleration to allow the blades to contact the shroud. Maybe you might want to check the motor mounts? Or perhaps install some of the $$$$ pricey Gruppe N motor mounts that Turner Motorsports or Korman might carry. I think I'd start by asking myself "why and under what conditions is the fan contacting the shroud? And how can that be prevented? Good luck!
