C'mon - just because Firestone made a few *small* errors in their Sport Futility tires doesn't mean the Bridgestone PP's aren't respectable!!<<<< I have run Michelin MXX3, Michelin XGT4, Yoko S1-Z, Yoko A032R, Yoko AVS Sports and Bridgestone S02 PP's. I use the Yoko A032R at the track and autox. I have found the Bridgestone S02's to be, BY FAR, the BEST, stickiest tire in both and wet and dry for the street. If they weren't so dang expensive, I'd run them religiously. John '95 M3 with a bunch goodies strapped on making it look and drive a lot like a Euro M3 GT (with Kumho 712's on order)

Any suggestions, comments, recommendations? Thanks Ray Ray, I'm not too swift on the computer and apologies to Suzy and everyone for my past imperfections, however, hope I'm doing it right this time! My 95 M# came with Michelin Pilot MXX3's which were fantastic on the autobahn (Munich delivery) and high speed in the rain when new. I now have Bridgestone S-02's and I think they're even better and a wonderful road tire on the track/on & off ramps. I think they have a harder sidewall and may be a bit noisier and harder riding. Go to Tire Rack's home page for comparison info on these two and Pirelli Assimetricos. Nick Goodban, 95 M3

Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 19:15:17 EDT From: Aswtguy2c@aol.com Subject: RE: Air Intake Temperature Sensor Actually, there are like 4 air temp. sensors on an E36! You got one for the OBC function, one for the DME as the air intake temp., another for the Air Conditioning System, and a non functional sensor thats in the passenger side bract duct. On the 95 M3's, the Air Intake Temp. sensor is located right on the airbox. On the post '96 M3s, it is located inside the intake manifold right after the throttle body. As for the passenger side "temp" sensor, I checked out the Electronic Trouble Shooting Manual and discovered its a thermal switch for the headlight washer jets!!! Jonathan Caldito

Jon, on '95 M3's, there is no electronic temperature sensor on the airbox. There's a thermal switch that controls the flow of coolant to the throttle body, but no temp sensor. (unless, of course, that's what you were talking about :=o) Nick

If you have a '95 M3 then you could get a turbo for around 6k installed. You'd have around 340HP and awesome torque and a few headaches. For almost any year you can get a SC for about the same money, maybe less, and have about the same HP but less torque and probably fewer headaches. Or you could get a chip and intake for around $1k and have maybe 25HP and no headaches. Really this is a complicated question. Do some research, check out the vendors, do a search on bimmer.org and the bigboostgruppe on onelist.com, don't believe everything you read and have fun! -Matt '95 M3 + Stage 1 turbo --- ClassiGuy3@aol.com wrote: > Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 17:25:12 EDT > From: ClassiGuy3@aol.com > Subject: Bolt ons or Forced induction? > > Would I benefit with bolt on upgrades like headers > euro chip, exhaust etc > compared to a supercharger or turbo charger setup? > which would be a better > way. thanks > > LEo > 95 M3 > > > > ************************************************************* > List Commands > UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you > from the mailing list. > ************************************************************* > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #13. AIT Sensor (again) - from LHassig@aol.com
Top
Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 23:25:21 EDT From: LHassig@aol.com Subject: AIT Sensor (again) Folks, Thanks to Matt Henson for pointing me at the air intake sensor, which I take to be the disk I see clipped to the outboard side of the brake duct. In any case, I visited my local BMW store's parts counter to have a look at one. The idea was to determine whether the sensor can be removed from the visible side in the brake duct or only from the invisible side. Anyway, the parts counter person could not find the sensor in the BMW parts database. Soooo...... Does anyone happen to know the number for this part? I think that might help. Also, my check engine light comes on only intermittently. To anyone who has any experience with this problem, is it more often caused by a faulty sensor that needs replacing or by a loose wire? And by the way, what is the effect on the engine of a flaky AIT sensor? Real bad or merely less than optimal performance? Thanks, Le

Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 20:27:40 -0700 From: Bora Akyol <akyol@pluris.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Mixing tires... It is not the tread pattern. Your rear tires are new and they have not cycled through yet. The tread depth is also very high. Give it 500 miles and you will be fine, also *please* check the tire pressures. Having loose handling is very very common with brand new tires (esp. street tires). Take a nice long drive this weekend and you will be fine.
