Not bad for a sport "sedan." <g> Congrats also to all the other BMW drivers and their valiant showings in their respective classes. It's too bad that Mark Sipe and the rest of the Z3 guys have to run with the Boxster's and MR2 Turbo's in A-Stock. Hi Jonathan, I think you should get yourself a dial indicator to check the run out of your rotors to be sure. I know Steve D has a setup that is supposed to include all the necessary parts (bolts, spacers, mount, etc) to check runout on a BMW. Sure, it may cost as much as a new rotor (honestly, I don't remember how much he quoted me), but if you are like me and like to collect cool tools, you will get yourself one. I plan to as soon as I place my next order with him. Good luck. Will this setup fit on the front? Tire Rack already cautioned me that it might not fit, so I'm hoping that someone here is using this setup without any problems. Also, any opinions on the 245/40 vs 245/45? I'm not sure which one to get, but want the same size tire/wheel setup all around. BTW, the cost for this entire setup (mounting, balancing, delivery) is about $1250....not too bad for wheels and tires. thanks, russell 99 dakar Russell: I have been told several times by Tire Rack that 245x40 17's won't fit at the front (on a 95 M-3). Also, my experience with replacement wheels is that the cheaper you go the more they weigh. Aesthetically, and for cleaning purposes, I love 5 - spoke wheels but Moda M-1's and Mille Miglia 5 spokes weigh a ton. I bought used BBS RK's - still too many spokes, but saving 10 lbs. plus at the rear wheels sure makes for snappier acceleration and of course less unsprung weight all around. The new SSR Integral is meant to be both light and 5-spoke and new, costs about the same as the BBS RK, circa $300 ea. Nick - 95 M-3

#9. Boo! BMW CCA - from Bob Weber
Top
Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 11:11:40 +0000 From: Bob Weber <bobweber@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Boo! BMW CCA Hello Everyone I am a BMW CCA member for a few years. Last year I attended the Petit LeMans at Atlanta and bought my tix for the event, parking in the BMW corral, access to the BMW tent with food and a tv from the club. It was great. This year I am told the corral will be there, the tent will be there BUT you must have signed up for Octoberfest to buy the Atlanta package. So I am a member of the club and some members that can take time off from work for octoberfest and have the money to pay for it can buy Atlanta tix but not club members that can't. Not only that but if you do not have the package you can not even park in the BMW corral even if you are a BMW CCA member (as told to me by BMW CCA). I have attended races in Atlanta in 99, Sebring in 99 & 2000, and Daytona in 99 & 2000. and each tiime as a BMW CCA member parked in the corral that was hosted by the local CCA chapter and enjoyed the socialization with other BMW owners. I think it is unfair that some club members can go to an event while others cannot for whatever convoluted reason the BMW CCA gives. Does anyone else agree or am I losing it? bob

#10. Track Tires, Again... - from Robert Jackowitz

Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 11:36:25 -0400 From: Robert Jackowitz <RJackowitz@HARVPART.COM> Subject: Track Tires, Again... Before I pull the trigger, I thought that I would seek the collective wisdom of the list regarding track tires. Having just corded my current set of BFG R1's, I seek a replacement set. I will not get the BFG's again (we all agree they pretty much suck), therefore, I believe I have three choices: Kumho Victoracer's 235/40-17 Yokohama A032s 235/40-17 Toyo Proxes RA-1 235/45-17 To be used for driving schools and open-track events...no REAL racing. If anyone has used more than one of these brands, I would greatly appreciate your insight. Thanks, Rob
