I have the #2 spot at my local dealer (that is the car I am planning to buy if I can find a home for my e36) and then I am the first in line at a small out of state dealer. I never canceled the deposit at the out of state dealer because a friend of mine wanted the car. My friend changed his mind last week, so now I am not sure what to do. I will probably just pass the car along to another BMW enthusiast or cancel it. After all, I plan to win the BMW CCA raffle (for the new M3) and I don't want to get too greedy :-) Suzy Bora Akyol wrote: > > Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 20:31:23 -0700 > From: Bora Akyol <akyol@pluris.com> > Subject: How much to get in line for E46 M3 > > So > > After buying an E36 M3, I figured I am going to try to complete the set > and get an E46 M3. > > My local dealer says that there is a 1 year waitlist at the minimum. > Does anyone know how much it costs to get in line for one. > > Of course after the E46, I will be looking to get an E30 next ;-) > > Bora > > ************************************************************* > List Commands > UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you from the mailing list. > *************************************************************

We ran together at some fairly high speeds for some 150 miles before going our separate ways. I found the 540 to be on par with the ///M3 from a straightline performance standpoint as we rocketed between pockets of traffic. The 330 however, with its 225 hp, will be no threat to the E36M3. It just seemed to lack that top-end power, more than one would think a difference of 15hp would. I then discovered that the 330 has a 2.93 rear-end and wondered whether the this was by design in order to keep the 330 at a safe distance (performance-wise) from the E36M3. But, what if you took that 330 and changed out the rear to the 3.38 from the automatic? Hmmm..... Rob

#8. RE: E46 M3 Wheel Sizes - from Mike Fleischer
Top
Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 14:23:43 -0500 From: "Mike Fleischer" <mfle@ti.com> Subject: RE: E46 M3 Wheel Sizes Hi, This is from memory from seeing an E46 M3 at the American LeMans race at Texas Motor Speedway but the sizes were: Front 18 by 7.5" with Pilot Sport 225/40/18's Rear 18 by 8.5 with Pilot Sport 255/35/18's The widths are right, the profile may be off a bit, I did not write the sizes down. Offsets look about the same as an E36 to me but I think you'd need to swap wheels to see for sure. Front brakes were slightly bigger than the E36 M3's, rears were much bigger (diameter) than the E36 rears. The car was a funky easter egg blue color with light gray interior and wood trim. I liked the color many others didn't. The Bad: The seats still had no lumbar support, though this is an option... The interior felt a lot more spacious than my E36M3 (I like the cockpit styling), There was no full size spare, just a fix-a-flat air pump (no room since the exhaust takes up too much space according to BMW rep), The under-car jacking points are smaller than the ones on the E36M3 if you can believe that? Some plastic parts in the interior had poor fit and finish, but I am told that will change by production (hope so). The car looks bigger than an E36M3. No info was forthcoming on weight, but I bet it weighs more than an E36M3 by at least 100 lbs. Steering wheel is a really thick (fat) three spoke design, I like the three spoke on my 99 M3 more The Good: The engine looked pretty good The wheels are really cool looking too. It has a more agressive stance than an E36M3. BMW's team drivers and PTG's drivers said it is a better car than the E36M3. Center console has an LCD panel for stereo/navigation/etc... Tachometer has the vanishing redline from the M5.
