If you want practicality, and just more power for everyday driving, supercharger. It's easier and simpler to install. And you don't get turbolag which can get annoying for low rpm city driving. If you want serious horsepower for the track, get turbo. Michael Ting --------------------

Shel, >There were the stock 8koc's in there and I got Bosch Platinum +4's. < Let me quote Jim E Nabli from the digest: "The correct plug for our cars (3.2) is the KQC. No E36 M3 (3.0 or 3.2) uses a KOC designation - at least not from the factory. " Are you sure you dont have the KQC instead of KOC?? _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift Kit and clutch stop; Skaags pedals

#8. spark plug changing - from Mdriver13@aol.com

Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 12:09:53 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: spark plug changing To all: Well, I did replace my plugs this morning. After 22K miles, plugs had a dry, brownish-black crust on them, but not much. They were the FQC's and I replaced with same. Got them from my Dealer for $11.80 with 10%CCA discount. Good to see that this plug no longer costs $20.00. Well, you guys are right....at least I feel better having done this. It's worth seeing those 6 ignition coils...awesome design ;-)) Other notes: I use 93 octane gas from Shell, Mobil 1 15W-50 during autox season, and Castrol Syntec fuel treatment around once a month. While the S/C is easier to install, I'd have to disagree about the performance characteristics. The centrifugal S/Cs used in the M3 kits don't make much boost at low RPM. From riding in S/C equipped cars on a track, I'd say that's where they're in their element, 'cause you spend most of your time up in the RPM range there. Big fun! For street silliness, give me a turbo. While I can't speak as much for the AA, the MechTech system in my car produces full boost well below 3000 RPM, where an S/C isn't doing much of anything. Punch it at 3500, and boost is instantaneous. It's also linear enough that it's never surprised me on the track, and it doesn't "rubber band" around town the way my turbo T-bird did. Positive displacement (Roots type) S/C's give you boost at all RPM, but the only kit I know of (Downing Atlanta) only fits 4-cyl Bimmers. Corky Bell did build a couple of 6 cyl prototype Whipple based systems (one of them's in a purple 325 I see around here occasionally), but I don't think he ever marketed them.

This particular supercharger (called G-lader) is one of the most efficient S/Cs ever built and it is capable of generating 16 psi or more. In my Corrado G60 (w/ stage 3 kit), the boost was so strong that once it blew the intake pipe apart.
