Big ticket weight items are: 1. Cloth seats vs. leather. Don't know how much this saves but my guess is about ~80lbs 2. No AC unit saves ~40lbs 3. Aluminum doors ~ 70lbs 4. Less insulation ~15lbs 5. No sunroof ~10lbs 6. No radio ~2lbs 7. Carbon fiber trim ~2lbs - mostly cosmetic. David Holeman www.racepad.com

Until you swap in racing shells, seats are not a very big weight saving factor. The manual cloth LTW seats in the Bambislayer (http://www.wpi.edu/~vmcmalfa/images/new2/interior.jpg) only saved 5lbs each over the stock "Vader" manual leather seats. The manual Vader seats are themselves about 10lbs lighter each than the power sport seats. To confuse the matter further, my LTW seats are not the same seats that came in the 325 M-tech or cloth interior non-LTW. In the M-tech, the seats were sport style with cloth centers and suede trim on the side bolsters (http://members.aol.com/cookg1/interior1.html). If anyone is interested, I could scan a pic from a very early US M3 brochure (printed late 93) that shows the optional cloth/suede Vader seats. I would expect about an 80lb savings with a pair of Sparco Ultra or similar seats. He does drive that car on the street, or maybe he just hasn't gotten caught yet. It was about 10 grand though... I just took mine in for inspection II or some such. I had noticed some odd behavour on occasion. Some days it would hesitate a little bit maybe 2 or 3 times over the course of commute. Didn't think too much of it and it seemed to be same old power the rest of the time. I was astonished when I got it back from the service. Way way more power. I guess it had been dropping little by little and I hadn't noticed it. I have no idea what was the problem. I'm guessing fuel filter and/or spark plugs. I don't think they do much else to the car besides look it over, if that. could try changing fuel fitler and plugs and see if it makes a difference... Jason

In other words, which is power, "brown is Grnd,", which goes to the blinker relay, etc.? Also, can someone point me to a good "automotive electrical switch" supplier (already been to RadioShack)? I'm trying to find a switch that has the 4 poles, that the hazard has. I'd like to get an illuminated rocker switch if it's out there. Anybody know Stygar's email address? Many thanks, Greg 99M _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. It is not the double pulley. I got a great deal on the pulley, but the only exception was no warranty or instructions. I emailed ERT(a few times), but they haven't responded back. Can anyone help me? Also, do I need special bolts to do this install? I have checked numerous archives. Thanks for your time. Paul Tsaliagos MediaMap SQL Technical Support 617-583-1424

It was about >10 grand though... sorry for coming into this late. but if i remeber the original question was "can't i get 350hp out of the engine without having to spend lots of money on a supercharger setup?" now... i thought turbos and superchargers were used because they were CHEAPER compared to the effort of getting power the "old fationed" way. say you have a motor that's putting out 100hp. and you want 150. isn't it cheaper to slap on some forced induction rather then any other method? _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. It looked really nice but didn't seem worthwhile or feasible. The feedback I got let me to believe that it wasn't really that high-quality ("aluminum" flakes off) 1) The M5 has a 6-speed transmission (don't think the mechanical aspect of the shifter itself should be different but you'd probably want to change the shift pattern on top). I also recall a dealer telling me that there were fitment "issues" and that it wouldn't work in my '99 M3. 2) If I remember correctly, I was quoted somewhere in the neighborhood of $250!!! just for a knob/shift boot. 3) I didn't even bother keeping the part number. If you find any differnt info, please let me know. Jonathan L. >From: Zez413@aol.com > > >I recently saw a brushed aluminum lighted shift knob in a sales brochure >for >a new M5.
