All I wanted to know was whether the police had the right to ask me to show him my windows. This is from the horse's mouth so to speak, and was a conversation before the race, but after qualifying in the infield. rgds, Mike

On speedvision they showed in-car telemetry with Stuck going down the main straight where he hit 154. Then they showed one of the barbour porsche's I think. I've forgotten which one now. It hit 163 at the same point. 9mph difference is big. How come? Its aerodynamics or power right? If the power is the same, then it comes down to aerodynamics? Something is fishy... On another note, I'm not surprised to hear that bmw is going to pay more attention to alms and m3's next year. They aren't impressing any propective new M3 buyers... And whats with the drive shaft? Its been breaking for like 2 years now right? 3 years? whats up with that... Jason

#11. Garage cleaning giveaway - from Jim Powell

Date: Mon, 02 Oct 2000 14:27:27 -0700 From: Jim Powell <jsp98m3@home.com> Subject: Garage cleaning giveaway Its that time again. Free-O-Charge stuff. One complete set of original, visually perfect stock brake lines off my '98 E36 M3/4. I personally don't recommend using USED brake parts, but if you have some use for them or just like spare parts. Here they are. One half set of Fischer braided steel lines for stock M3 calipers. Rear only and only for the short section from the connector to the caliper. This is normally a two piece kit. I used the kit when I put on the P-Car front brakes. When I added the rear P-Car brakes, they use a different hose from the connection to the caliper. These have about 500 miles tops on them. Either/Both free to the first person who asks for them. Send $5 to Suzy or the Police Benevolence Fund to cover my shipping cost. Hasta, Jim

I seem to recall somewhere that the PTG claimed that the Porsche "sprint" engines were making 450hp and the "endurance" motors were making 400hp. PTG claimed that the E46 M3 was making 350 (sprint) and 400 (endurance). I don't know if this is true, but this is what I remember. On a side note, I heard a rumor that BMW is thinking of entering the new British PowerTour Series, where they will have to field a V8. This should mean a commercial version of the car will be available to match the series. (Hopefully!) Mark Kelly
