Also BMW thinks competion for the new M3 consists of: MB CLK430, MB CLK55 AMG, Porsche 911 C2, and Chevrolet Corvette. Comments: Wow it gained some weight! Wow its pretty fast and has more power than first indicated, it is also missing that magic 50/50 weight distribution. Things that make you go hmmm. Ok here are the color options: Exterior: Alpine White Imola Red Laguna Seca Blue Jet Black Titanium Silver (Unkown too garbled to read) Fern Green Carbon Black Interior: Black leather/Black cloth inserts Nappa Leather Option: Imola Red Cinnamon Gray Black Stand-Alone options: Rear Side impact airbags Power Glass 2-way moonroof Rear Spoiler Delete Width adjustable backrests with 4-way lumbar support Park Distance Control Xenon headlights On board navigation system (no in dash CD) In-dash CD player (no Nav system) Harmon Kardon 12 speaker sound system Mettalic paint Nappa Leather Interior Then theres a bunch of packaged options, Cold weather, Power Seat, Luxury package yadda yadda Hope this wets everyone's appetite for the new Bahn stormer, Orders will be started end of Oct, the convertible will be available next spring sometime. That's the scoop rgds, Mike Fleischer

I've had the UUC SS kit for ages (replacing a not very good Korman SS), never had a problem. Added the ERK when it became available, never had a problem. From the other posts it appears as if there was some change or tooling variation in the stock BMW carrier that came along and interfered. I've also used the UUC Clutch Stop since it became available, never had a problem. I believe that Ron Stygar has comprehensively shown that the problem with clutch stops isn't so much the stop itself, but the sloppy - not to mention squeaky - stock clutch pedal. Just some more data points. Neil 96 M3 - BTW, I have the Strut Barbarian, and that's pretty damn good too.

I'm already looking for a better alternative after just a month. Even my trick 6 point socket with aluminum insert chews them up. I can't believe that their weight savings is meaningful even in racing, and certainly not for the rest of us. Neil 96 M3

The regular E36 has .32, and I think the new S class has ..28 or .29 drag. Michael Ting --------------------

#7. Audi Forum - from Steve D'Gerolamo
Top
Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2000 20:21:23 -0400 From: "Steve D'Gerolamo" <steved3@idt.net> Subject: Audi Forum Back in January of this year, a made a statement on this list about Audi S4 reliability problems in Europe. I was immediately blasted by a BMW enthusiast (who happens to own an S4), claiming my statements bordered on being libelous. I now find it ironic that there's a huge thread on the Audi S4 Forum with talk of class action suits against Audi of America because the cars are breaking with the increased boost/power from chips and other mods. People (not just Audi owners) need to take responsibility for their actions without looking to sue their tuners/dealers/manufacturer every time their modified car breaks. Perhaps Audi limited power for a reason. When S4 owners come to their dealerships with claims that their car failed with normal use, AoA factory representatives need only review the Audi Forums archives for incriminating evidence of tampering by these power hungry enthusiasts. BMW content....the normally aspirated BMW's can be modified via chip tuning without much consequence. The E36 M3 is a more bullet proof car than the S4 and should become a real price bargain with the advent of the new E46 version. There is a 1.5 year waiting list at my local dealer (Allison BMW) on the E46 and they are selling the 98 M3s for 40K or so. A friend of mine just bought a 98M3 with 24K miles for 39500 so I am not BS'ing about the price.
