Andrew's a smart guy and a fast driver. I'm gonna try these next myself. - Mark Folks, I've been meaning to post on this for a couple months now. On what is the absolute best street pad I've ever used, and I've tried alot of them. I've never been excited about street pads before, but these are really notable. I needed some street pads for my 95 M3 recently (my 88M3 is only a racecar now, so it doesn't get street pads anymore, but if it did...), and being a fan of Hawk Blues for the track and getting a recommendation for the Hawk HPS I thought I'd give them a try. The HPS are a street pad that IMO would stand up to at least a intermediate student on the track. They grip _almost_ like a warmed up PF90, which suprised the hell out of me. I mean these things grab...when cold. Best of all they don't dust at all. After I installed the HPSes I neglected to wash the wheels on the car (daily driver) for 5.5 weeks, where they were just beginning to show a little dust. In 5.5 weeks, they had about the same amount of dust that 4-5 days of stock pads would produce. And they don't squeal either. So HPS street pad: no dust, quiet and grip almost like a warmed up PF90. If I were to take the 95 M3 to a school for some reason, even though I'm really hard on brakes (still warp a set of rotors a weekend with good ducting on the e30), I would use these pads. Best of all they're cheap too (I can't remember what they cost, but it was noticably less than others). I picked them up James' recommendation at Bimmerworld (link below). Without doubt, this will be my street pad of choice for the forseeable future. And I've tried PFZs, metalmanglers, deluxes, Ferodo street compound, stockers and R4S. Hawk really came through on this one, taking street friction materials to a whole new level. Andrew, really impressed.

The reason you are getting vibrations is that there is not enough hub left to properly center the wheels. Did you notice how hard it was to keep the wheel on the hub while putting the lug bolts in? I called H&R and spoke to one of their reps who told me that it was not safe to run with the 5mm spacers as they did not have the hubcentric lip to support the wheels. He also told me that H&R was in the process of developing a 10mm hubcentric spacer. My problem was solved by getting 10mm hubcentric spacers from Steve D'G at the Ultimate Garage. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the wheel squeak. I have some 17x8 BBS RKs that I run on the street and with the 225/45r17 AVS sports they fit fine with no spacers. -kit

Well I found out that the cheapest price for the control arms and bushings is from VOB BMW in Maryland (1-800-462-7292). The gave me $135 per control arms and $70 for the bushings (per pair). Good luck! Junaidi 95 M3 (need a control arm job done badly) No affiliation with BMW VOB other than passing info. ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.amexmail.com/?A=1

#7. tire build dates and using the spare? - from John Demartino US-Valencia

Time for tires again and I find myself with an unusual option. I happen to have one new unmounted front Pilot Sport (long story) and was wondering if it makes any sense to rotate my spare into the mix and purchase only two rears, plus tire I have, plus spare, for a full set. Does anybody see a problem with this? Should I be worried about different traction characteristics with tires with considerably different build dates, etc? Please advise. Thanks, > John C. Could this be something with the install > A warped rotor - though I don't push the car hard and never had a > warped rotor with the stock rotors. My brother and I installed Euro Rotors and R4S' on both our M3's. One of his front rotors looked like it was damaged in shipping (sent from Nick Alexander BMW). The outer edge of the rotor had a little bump in it like it was either dropped or bumped hard into something. We used it anyway and filed it down a bit but it still rubs a little on every revolution. It could probably use a little more filing. The R4S' work great as street pads. They stop fine with much less dust. Mine squeal a little and my brother's don't squeal at all. The difference? I used BMW Plastilube on my pads and when we ran out of that we used some other generic brake goop from the local auto parts store. The stuff he used seemed to be much sticker so maybe that's why his don't squeal. -- Bob '95 M3

It was a resonance issue. It was fixed when Dinan switched to Carbon Fiber. There would be no problem running Jim C or any other intake software with the Dinan intake or any other reputable intake system.. ie ECIS, Dinan, AA, etc...
