Assuming Davy's talking about the SF Bay Area, I just bought a sixer of Mobil 1 at a local Pep Boys for $4.59/qt. I'd checked other Pep Boys and a Kragen's before scoring. All stores don't have same grades in stock either. This price matches-up well with the recent "oil change special" from the dealer on filters. I got 3 for the price of 2, and then got the club discount on top! Probably the only real deal ever at a bimmer "stealer". Actually, it uses the same cylinder head as all the M50TU engines. Nick

#3. E36 M3 Rear Sway bar brackets - from Christopher J. N. Kolaitis

Kolaitis" <chrisjnk@ix.netcom.com> Subject: E36 M3 Rear Sway bar brackets Hi Jonathan, Dinan has a Gusset kit, which consists of a piece of strong angle iron to weld on at a angle to the rear sway bar brackets. The Dinan kit is pricey for what you get. IMHO You can make the angle braces and then weld them on to the factory stock brackets. I think Dado or some one else on the E36 M3 forum has a home web site with a great photo of the brackets with a welded angle brace. Look on the suspension page. Last week I examined my rear sway bar brackets with the Dinan gusset kit. They looked really good after 32 months and about 32,000 miles. I replaced the Dinan sways with the UUC tubular sways. OY!! What's Happening?!? This is the second set of sway bar brackets that's broken on me (RD Sport bars w/urethane bushings on a '99M3). Is this a really common situation or can I do something to avoid this (aside from switching back to stock bars)? Any chance JT Designs or anyone else has made a stronger bracket or does anyone have suggestions as to something that I can do to rememdy this? Thanks, Jonathan

I'd like to publicly thank and commend Jim Mihal at JT Designs for great customer support of his products. I recently purchased gauges and an Oil Distribution Block (for my M3) from them and had problems with leaks and finding crush washers after I messed up the ones supplied. Jim's help and suggestions were great and that in my opinion they are a great example of how a company should do business. Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2000 18:52:16 EDT From: Aswtguy2c@aol.com Subject: RE: [E36M3] Head swap The 95 M3 with the S50B30 and the post '96 M3s with the S52B32 engine only have an on/off type VANOS on the intake side only. The engine designation for the 330 engine is known as the M54B30. Its technology is amazing when compared to the M50, M50TU, M52, S50, and S52 engines. The M54 engine does have Dual or Double VANOS on both the intake and exhaust and timing is infinitely adjustable. I don't think the head of an M54 would fit on a S52 engine. The intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and a whole lot of electronics (wiring harnesses and a DME) will need to be retrofitted. Coolent and oil gallies might differ in position. Not even worth it just to have infinite variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust cams. Jonathan Caldito
