Purchased a set of used wheels (8x17) and tires (BFG G-Force) from a list member. Would like a set of baseline pressures for starting the day. Remember, this car is STOCK. Aggressive Instructor Driver and Formula Continental Racer, so I have a clue about a few things. But, this will the first time I'm on the track with my daily driven M3. Thanks in advance for all help. I'm in digest so a copy directly on your reply will be helpful. Chris Brown ------------- http://www.christianbrown.com <-BMW's, Racing, Etc.

The shield is a tight fit and does require a little manipulation. I don't think that you can realistically expect for it to just drop into place. As for the HP, check out their website. That's my white '95 ///M3 on the dyno page. I got a significant increase in HP and Torque. As for the sound, I just love it!! FWIW, YMMV. #6. can I or can't I bleed the brakes on a car with asc? - from David Michael

Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2000 23:45:54 -0400 From: "David Michael" <carieanddavid@mediaone.net> Subject: can I or can't I bleed the brakes on a car with asc? I am in the process of prepping my car for NHIS on Friday. I want replace the brake fluid, but the Bentley has all kind of stern warning against bleeding the brakes of cars with asc onself, and that it should be done by a dealer. Is this for real, or can I do it myself if I am careful? I have a "pump it up" pressure bleeder. I know this has been discussed before, but I don't remember there being a definitive answer. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Dave 98 m3/4

After installing the ECIS intake last night, tonight I installed the J.C chip I ordered from Josh at Eurosport. He was kind enough to send it overnight. Excellent service overall, thanks Josh. I have to say one thing: intake + chip makes a huge difference. I am going to dyno it on Saturday so I will know more, but it feels like a good 20-30 HP difference. The car is very strong in every gear and it rocks in 1-2 and 3rd gear for sure. Overall, a worthwhile upgrade for 475.00. The ECIS was a pain in the butt to put in, but now that it is in, I am pretty happy with the extra power. Adding the Jim C chip made a huge difference too. I guess my next upgrade is the supercharger, hopefully the stock market will come back up sometime ;-) Bora

Assuming Davy's talking about the SF Bay Area, I just bought a sixer of Mobil 1 at a local Pep Boys for $4.59/qt. I'd checked other Pep Boys and a Kragen's before scoring. All stores don't have same grades in stock either. This price matches-up well with the recent "oil change special" from the dealer on filters. I got 3 for the price of 2, and then got the club discount on top! Probably the only real deal ever at a bimmer "stealer". Dennis

For every positive story, I can give you ten horror stories. Not only that, but I cringed when someone did it to a mini-truck, let alone a BMW. If you are dying to have a 'roof in your car, it really is worth it to shop for a car just like yours, but with a sunroof. Also, aftermarket sunroofs KILL resale value. Just try to trade one in... I just rec’d my new lamp & mount’g fixture, all for a mere 46 bucks incl., shipp’g, from Zygmunt (or whatever they’re called). I can’t thank you enough; it would’ve sucked the root to have to shell out real loot to the dealer. Secondly, can you guys/gals tell me what would cause my coolant to boil over? I came home from work yesterday, down one of my best country roads (drove the snot out of it as usual), and after pulling into the drive, popped the hood, and found a generous amount of coolant splatter. The cap was screwed on securely, all hoses appear to be good, connected properly, and fluid appears to be at proper level. Is this indicative of a stuck thermostat? This sh*t won’t eat the paint will it? The car is a ’99 M3 coupe w/ 17,6K miles. He had trouble getting a refund from Bavarian Auto Recyclers, and I was looking to help him. I do not want besmirch any company when it isn't called for, so I wanted to make sure that I updated the list by telling you all that he received the refund check on Monday, so all is well. Naturally, being a bit of DH, he didn't tell me this until this morning, thereby wasting a lot of my time. Oh well. Thanks again. Michael

I have bleed my brakes many times with no problems. Go for it. There are several write-ups on this on the Web, if you need any pointers. I don't have any links handy at the moment, so perhaps someone else can post a few. I've been very disappointed in the Bentley manual, btw. - Rich
