The sedans had the normal sports seats from the 3-series sports package. One of the reason I decided to get the coupe was for the seats. The upcoming E46 M3 seats look even more heavily bolstered. Hope this helps. Roy '99 M3/2 _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. A simple alternative here would be to mount it on the deck between the shock towers, but all the way off to the passenger side. You can then run your cabling down the P/S of the car and right to the changer. This is how I had my Blaupunkt Changer installed and it was great. -p

#4. M3 fun at NHIS - from Stan Shaw III

Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 12:33:41 -0400 From: "Stan Shaw III" <Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net> Subject: M3 fun at NHIS I had an interesting weekend at NHIS. I had intended to attend both Saturday and Sunday with my '80 928S, as it is better track prepared than my '96 M3. I participated in the advanced driving session, which culminated in time trials Sunday afternoon. My 928 lost third on Saturday, and then partial power steering in one direction (wierd). So I brought the 928 home and brought the M3 up Sunday. The primary track differences between the two cars, is that the M3 does not have good track seats, harnesses or a track alignment. I didn't get very far on improving my line on Saturday with the 928, but was able to run a few 1:21s. This is based on reviewing the cam corder after the session. On Sunday when I started with the M3, I started with 1:20s and 1:19s using the on board computer. I continue to be intrigued by the performance similarities of these two cars, when they are (and feel) so different. In the time trials on Sunday afternoon (three timed laps with a running start), I did 1:19.234, 1:19.188 and 1:18.359. I was told these times were respectible, and I was thrilled to place first. There were only 12 participants, most BMWs, including a two M6s and four M3s. The second place went to a 5.0 Mustang, completely race prepaired. I was pleased with the way my M3 performed, it includes the following setup: UUC Sway bars, rear stiff, front in middle position UUC Strut brace UUC tranny mount enforcer with BMW 320I mount UUC Short Shifter UUC Big Clutch Stop BMW X-brace JTD rear shock mounts with hers bushings JTD front splash pan JTD brake cooling ducts (no brake fade, but the day was cool) PF90s (these are great on both cars!) R1As (don't seem as sticky as Hoosiers, but the cars are different) LTW wheels Shark Injector Conforti Cold Air Intake I was told that turning on #3 I was lifting the right front tire. This was my first time trials, and look forward to many more! Regards, Stan Shaw Excell.Net Phone: (413) 599-0399 Fax: (413) 599-0407 Stan.Shaw@Excell.Net http://www.excell.net/

These pedals definitely improved the ease of heel and toeing, and the aluminum is far more grippy than the rubber/plastic stock pedals. The only problem that I've noticed is that I have to make sure that when I brake my foot is entirely on the brake pedal, if I'm over a little bit I'll catch the accelerator unintentionally. Now, the dead pedal is purely cosmetic. Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 10:20:06 -0700 From: Kit Wetzler <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> Subject: rear o2 sensor part numbers? Hi guys, one of my rear o2 sensor's heater circuit seems to be flaky and is making me throw a check engine light. (verified by an OBD-II reader...) Does anyone know which sensor is sensor 2 of bank 2? I assume that's the rear sensor, but which one? I guess I can just disconnect one and read the failure code, but I'd like to order the part today. Anyone have the part number? Thanks all! -kit 97 m3

Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 15:39:24 -0500 From: "George M. Kofman" <sdg2@execpc.com> Subject: rear shock mounts.... Gang; My ///M3 is in the shop getting Service I / belts / radiator flush done today. One of the things my SA recommended replacing were the ... rear shock mounts/bushings. surprise, right ? well, anyhow, I recall someone recommending either Ground Control or JTD brands. is this still the "recommended" upgrade for a car that sees moderate track use (10-12) track days/year. Or should I just go with OEM ? btw - the trailing arm bushings were fine. my extened warranty covers them, but they did not need replacing... bummer. GMK '97 M3/4; now new and improved with a new O2 sensor.
