#1. FS: MXX3s - from Darrell Swope

Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 18:19:01 -0400 From: Darrell Swope <dswope@s1.com> Subject: FS: MXX3s I am replacing my tires and have one 245/40/17 MXX3 that is still usable. It has about 4/32s left. I am also going to replace the spare which is (of course) a 225/45/17. It has maybe 50-100 miles on it. I was looking to get $75 for 245 and $100 for the 225 but I'll entertain other offers (shipping not included). The rest of the tires are down to the wear bars but if they can be had as well if anyone is interested. Darrell Swope '96 M3/2 Arctic Silver

#2. [E36M3] JC Intake Kit - Subtle Differences? - from RogRacer@aol.com

Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 20:23:17 EDT From: RogRacer@aol.com Subject: [E36M3] JC Intake Kit - Subtle Differences? For those that know me on this list, this may come as a surprise (being a strong advocate of basic goodness of the M3's stock tuning for a street car) but I've decided it is time for a modest, civilized power upgrade that will keep the M3's basic good character in tack. So, after the generally favorable reviews on this list, and the plausible dyno curves that have been published, I've decide to add the JC "Euro" Intake kit (with Euro HFM) to my otherwise stock '95. My question to the listers is this: are the JC Euro Intakes distributed by Turner, Eurosport, and TC Kline different in subtle details (like reducers and mounting hardware), or are they basically the same? Is there a reason to select one vendor over another? One last question, if you all would be so kind: I'm a bit unclear about the need to upgrade the injectors with this kit...it appears that the kit is pushing the limits of the stock injectors...TC Kline says larger injectors are only necessary for racing applications....is this absolutely true? Running lean would at full power would not be too cool. I also assume that with the "Euro" Intake the stock injectors will still have some margin even with minor future upgrades (like exhaust), true? TIA for the help guys. Roger W. Graves RogRacer@aol.com '95 M3, bone stock, but ready for some thoughtful upgrades.

#3. Supercharger - from Paul Elliott

The power would be similar but I would assume the change in weight distribution from adding the supercharger could be worse/better???<< One of the reasons I got my Supercharger for my '99 was that at the time, I felt this would be the only way I wouldnt be salivating all over the E46. Turns out that it made me almost as 'new car proof' as I was hoping....I may get occasional pangs, but its very controllable, thanks to the slightly additional hp and significantly additional Torque I how generate.....Now, as for weight, I dont know the exact weight of the Vortech blower, but I assure you its way less than the almost 400 lbs which differentiate the two. And as for 'additional plumbing' you refer to, well, aside from a couple of hoses, their aint no plumbing! I would be surprised if the blower was worth any more than 50 lbs, so from both a weight and power perspective, the E36 still comes out on top. Thats not to say its a better car. Only it has more power, and less weight, which is what you asked about. 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times will be almost identical. For those who prefer the E36 either from an appearance standpoint, or from a weight and handling standpoint, you could do alot worse than trying to even the balance by supercharging your beloved E36. _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift Kit and clutch stop; Skaags pedals

More than just the typical "BMW Drivetrain Slack" I checked out the RSMs and they were in perfect condition. Day 3: So off to the dealer I go. I get no further than a mile from where I live and the diff starts going nuts making a jumping bumping sound and then a grinding noise. I pulled over immediately and had BMW Roadside flatbed car in. It turns out that two of the bolts that hold the diff in had sheared. Of course with my luck the bolts weren't in stock (which could be a bad thing). I got my car back 4 days later as "good as new". Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 19:28:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Supercharger Here's a weight data point..My Stage 1 Turbo kit weighs 98lbs, according to the UPS box it came in. This includes some items that were replaced: Exhaust manifold Exhaust downpipe Intake (box, hose, filter) Which probably take a total of around 30-40 lbs from the weight. So the total additional weight is around 60-70lbs. The turbo itseld feels like it weighs around 25lbs. I'd expect a SC and its brackets would weigh around the same 25lbs (since it doesn't have a heavy exhaust turbine).
