#1. euro fog lamps? - from andy radin

Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2000 16:58:30 -0800 From: "andy radin" <fourfa@mindspring.com> Subject: euro fog lamps? Driving to Half Moon Bay this weekend through the usual pea-soup fog, I got to wondering. Are there Euro-spec foglamps that are more useful than the US vanity lamps? I seem to recall a mention of this after the Euro mirror group purchase, but couldn't find any details in the archive. Thanks.

Havent you ever noticed that unless you turn the ac on, the defroster option works about 10% as well as it does when the ac is on? You need the ac to pull the humidity out of the air, helping you defog. I used to love my past cars that had the intellegence built in to turn the ac on automatically whenever I went to defog....With my M3, I always have to turn the ac on manually when I am defogging!!! _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift Kit and clutch stop; Skaags pedals

Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2000 21:25:29 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <pelliott@rcn.com> Subject: M Contour wheels wanted Suzy, Why dont you try the Contour Replicas from Tirerack? I have a set on which I have my mounted Pirelli Winter 210s, and most people cant tell the difference. The price for a new set is probably considerably better than you'll get for a used set of BMWs, they'll be in much better shape, and, most people cant tell the difference. _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3; <20000 mi; Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift Kit and clutch stop; Skaags pedals

My mom just got them for her 330ci, and they look exactly like my real Contour II's. They even come with BMW center caps from the TireRack. The ONLY differences is that they don't come with the "M" logo, and they look a little more polished than the factory - other than that, nobody will ever know. Check them out - well worth the price. It expires at the end of November. After hearing how it sounds on another M3, I guess it would be too loud for my neighbors at the condo. Not that they are the deciding factor. On occasion, I will set off some sensitive alarms in the garage with the backpressure of my stock exhaust. I'd hate for that to happen all the time. The first one to answer this trivia question wins the certificate: What is Jacques Villeneuves' birthday (mm/dd/yy)? #7. Lifetime parts once replaced once. - from WCRoswell@aol.com

Date: Tue, 31 Oct 2000 09:35:58 EST From: WCRoswell@aol.com Subject: Lifetime parts once replaced once. In a message dated 10/30/2000 7:56:41 PM EST, e36m3@bmwmpower.com writes: << I thought many parts are lifetime once you bite the bullet and pay for :>the part and labor the first time around. Thus, if your water pump :>fails, you pay the dealer the cost of the new water pump and for the :>labor associated with the removal of the failed part and installation :>of the new part. From that point on, you only have to pay for labor :>should the water pump fail again.... :> :> Chester This doesn't seem to make sense. If the part is good enough to have a lifetime warranty once it has been replaced, then why wasn't the OEM part lifetime warranty. After all its the SAME PART. And when you bought the car you already bit the bullet for the part price the first time. I think most warranties are for 1 year. These lifetime warranties might be a gimmick for a part that doesn't fail until 60-75K and then probably won't need to be replaced again within a 120-150K lifetime :) Thanks, Bill the M3 Nut
