Date: Tue, 31 Oct 2000 10:13:35 -0800 From: "Mount, Mike" <JMMn@pge.com> Subject: Front Hub / Wheel Bearing noise??? List-er's, my '95 M3 has recently began making some noise from the front end. After doing a bit of testing, it appears to be the left front hub. BMP design has a front hub and integral bearing for ~ $100, other parts needed are an extra $20 or so. After checking my Bentley manual it looks like a ~3 hour job except for the 214 ft-lbs of torque needed for the hub nut (!) and the bearing puller and press (which I have neither but at the reasonable cost of a 6-pack of St. Pauli Girl my neighbor will loan). Anyone on the list done one of these, or should I bite the bullet and have the shop do it? Hmmm, while I'm at it; new rotors, pads...$$$ cha-ching! Mike '95 M3 da kar is yellow

The problem with using the AC to defog the windows is that as soon as you turn the AC off, the windows fog immediately (due to all that moisture sitting on the AC condenser). - Mark '95 M3 '97 528i 5-spd '88 M3, Hennarot ---- Mark Dadgar - Product Manager, Peripherals (650) 230-5037 voice - (650) 230-2100 fax mdadgar@handspring.com - Handspring, Inc. Brent, I know you want to clear this useless switch out of your garage and all, but you could at least provide us with a little info on the switch you replaced it with. Ok, so everyone probably already knows this, so you could at least tell ME about it. Like what the part number is, how much it cost and what else you had to do to make the damn thing work as advertised. What do you think? : ) Shane Kleinpeter Tarheel Chapter '96 M3 <-- with new water pump, thermostat housing and belt tensioners, all for $50, not bad. 88 535is <-- doesn't break

On an M3 note, every time I take a curve with this car, I am amazed. I took an on-ramp to 85S from 280N today at a speed I thought was not quite possible and I wasn't even pushing. Bora

#8. LTW Oilpan installation Q - from Bob Lenarcik
Top
Date: Tue, 31 Oct 2000 11:35:43 -0800 From: "Bob Lenarcik" <lenarcik@pacbell.net> Subject: LTW Oilpan installation Q I have a question for anyone who has installed the LTW Oilpan in their E36 M3: Are the oil pump bolts anything special? The kit did not come with replacements and the instructions talk about replacing them. My mechanic needs to know whether the original bolts can be reused or if a different type of bolt (stretch vs. std) or length needs to be used. TIA for any help here. - Bob '97 M3

The warranty is there to get you into the shop. Even if the part fails under warranty, you still pay for the labor to put in a replacement. Then they upsell you on something else. OEM parts do come with a similar warranty (4 year/50K mile). Neither is lifetime (except for perhaps a few items). alex

(the only time you need that last 3hp from the engine) i suppose that means if you stayed on full throttle for 5 minutes in a row, your windows would fog. but barring that, i like the compressor always running. though... maybe it's why i get less then 20mpg? _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. (just about every single one ;-P and i never got more then a 1 year warrenty on any of them. from bmw that is. my koni shocks had a longer warrenty. if i'd chosen to replace my shocks with BMW ones, i'd have only had a 1 year warrenty (and paid more too, duh...) _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
