Jacques Villeneuve nonsense... if we look at http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/f1/d/22jacquesvilleneuve.html then we see that Mr. Villeneuve, the son of the late great Gille, was born in 1971. NOT 1954... Here are some stats: · Nationality : Canadian · 1,71m - 66 Kg · Born : O9/O4/71 at St Jean/Richelieu · Number of GP: 65 (at the end of 1999) · Pole Positions: 13 · wins: 11 · Best Laps: 9 · Points scored : 180 · Helmet : Blue, Purple, Black, Red, Yellow · Teams: · Williams (1996,97,98) · British American Racing (1999-2000) · His career... · 1st racing experience: 1988 in Italy (Alfa Touris) · 1st Grand Prix: 1996 - Melbourne, Australia (Williams Renault FW18) · 1st contact with F1: 1995 - Silvertone (Williams Renault FW17B) · 1st GP win: 96 European GP (Nurburgring) · 1999 - No point scored · 1998 - 5th with 21 points · 1997 - World Champion (7 wins) · 1996 - 2nd of the World Champ. with 4 wins · 1995 - Indycar Champion - Winner of the "500 Miles of Indyanapolis" (youngest winner of the IndyCar Championship) · 1994 - Indycar - "Rookie of the year" (6th with 94 points, 1st win at Elkhart Lake) · 1993 - Toyota Atlantic Championship - "Rookie of the year" (finishes 3rd) · 1992 - F3 JAPAN (1st win at Nishi Sendai) · 1991 - F3 ITALY (Ralt-Alfa Romeo RT35 ) - 6th with 20 pts · 1990 - F3 ITALY (Reynard-Alfa Romeo 903) · 1989 - F3 ITALY (Reynard) - Best results: 10th GMK '97 ///M3/4, and a great F1 fan. I actually found a movie clip (on a Russian web site) of Gille's final F1 race in which his Ferrari completely flies apart.

They're trying to get you to use BMW dealer >service once your warranty runs out. What earns more money? Parts or >labor? depends on what you mean. sure you don't make any money on parts. as a dealer you pay $495 to bmw for a part then sell it for $500 to the customer wth a $200 labor charge. so... you made more on the labor. but let's think about giving the part away free. you pay $495 for the part, and charge $200 labor so you LOSE money for the job? not gonna happen. now maybe if you had an american car where parts are dirt cheap... >The fuel filter is cheap...sure it may be a bitch to >swap out, but I did it anyway at 15k miles. I'm itching to cut that sucker >open and see what's inside ;) it's not very exciting. we use clear fuel pumps on the race cars so we can see if it's getting dirty. it looks exactly like an air filter, (zig zaggy paper in a ring) but smaller and wetter. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Are you telling me that we had a 46 year old running around the F1 tracks this year??? I thought it was a young man's sport... Sure, I've use lots of MetalMasters for street pads in the past with no obvious problems. No scientific evidence here but they seem to wear the rotors only slightly faster then stock pads. That shouldn't be a probem as I suspect most people on this list warp rotors before they wear out - I don't think I've ever worn out a flat rotor. They can make a reasonable compromise street/track pad for some cars (not E36 M3s - too fast, too heavy). I currently use them on the rear for street & track with PF90s on the front for track and stock pads on the front for street. Then again, the extra heat transferred into the hub could cook the bearings. After all, that is why the euro rotors are floating. #8. e46 sunroof motor... - from Brent Williams

Date: Tue, 31 Oct 2000 18:14:19 +0100 From: "Brent Williams" <brent@williamsconsultingltd.com> Subject: e46 sunroof motor... Ok, since everyone wants to know, it is pretty simple. I ordered a sunroof motor and switch and harness from a used parts place. I ordered a motor and switch for a 328i. Well, it was a 00. So I call the guy back and I told the guy that I wanted a motor and switch from a 99 coupe. I got the motor and switch from a 99 sedan. I now have tow motors and two switches for e46 cars that I have no use for. So, I figued what the hell. So I got to playing and after a while I gave up. Then I took apart my seven series, and it is pretty much the same deal as far as the switch and motor goes, so I get to thinking, and I make up a harness and after a good bit of adjustment, I'll be damned if it doesn't work. I just looked at my seven for ideas. So, it doesn't open all the way, maybe an inch short, but hell, I am happy. I will do a writeup when I figure out if it is going to do damage to my sunroof or not. So hold your horses, and when I get it all worked out, I will tell you how I did it. Has anyone read my writeup on putting a door lock switch in your 95 and older cars? Thats on suzy's site in the tech section. On another note, I still have that other e46 motor and switch... Wonder how much a preassembled harness and detailed instructions would go for. Make it plug and play. Simple upgrade...Just a thought... I will start my own UUC and sell rewired sunroof motors! Who wants to go into it with me? Brent

I'm itching to cut that sucker open and see what's inside ;) Chester, I speak for most of the group when I advise you to be careful. This potential scenario contains two potentially dangerous items: - a knife or some tool to "cut that sucker" open - a device which previously filtered gasoline and probably still has some residual. Heed this advice to be careful, otherwise we may have another Chester story ;-) Regards, Rich

Does that mean I won't get the gift certificate? Chris, I am sure Ed will send you one too. Hell, you are buddies with Jacque, you should have all sort of freebies heading your direction for that affiliation alone notwithstanding Ed's desire to send you a certificate as well ;-) Anyone with any other free certificates laying around, please feel free to send them my way, I will even pay postage. If you feel it necessary for me to reseach some type of trivia question, that is alright. I would prefer certificates to vendors like UUC Motorwerks, Nick Alexander BMW, Tire Rack, Koala Motorsport, Eurosport and Ultimate Garage but pretty much anything is acceptable. Regards, Rich
