Preece" <gapreece@entreky.net> Subject: MXX3 Hey Guys and Gals, I need a Michelin Pilot MXX3 in 235/40/17 with 1,000 miles or less on it for sure and three if I can get them. I saw that the Tire Rack has dropped the price on new ones to $199.00 So, they are not as pricey as they used to be. I live in Louisville, KY by the way. Thanks. Gary Preece (502)327-6904

I just picked up my car and it was $400.40 including rental (e46 323i), tax, idiot sticker-on-forehead surcharge, etc. The rental was $50 (from $60) and $135 for the hose, 2 hrs labor. Not bad since I didn't make an appt and they washed my car for free (woohoo! it finally got washed!) #3. : [E36M3] Winter tires - from Paul Elliott

If you would like to maintain a bit more performance and still be able to get around in the snow, I would suggest the Dunlop SP5000 high perf. all season tire. << There was a time when I, living in Metro NY, had considered using all seasons on my M3 as a year round compromise....But upon closer examination, and on the advice of many others, I decided that even the best 'hi perf' all seasons are at best a compromise...That is, they dont perform in the dry nearly as well as ultra hi performance tires, and they dont perform in the snow nearly as well as performance snows. So, here we have a car which C&D calls the best handling street car in the world. It just didnt make sense to me to equip this admittedly first rate handling machine, with anything but the best tires for the particular job it has to do at the time. And, for what purpose? To save 2 tire/wheel changes a year, each of which takes about a half hour out in the garage? The tiny time savings of not doing it hardly seems worth it. _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio

I'd rather pay the whole thing... actually, if I had time, I'd probably do it myself as I've done everything else on my car (everything but the exhaust... $50 isn't bad to have someone else lug the stock exhaust off) They use a different clamp since that was the main reason why so many e36's were leaking. -Bobby > -----Original Message----- > > > Have you tried just replacing the factory clamps??? I was suggesting the use of a SP5000 instead of a pure snow or winter tire. I have also driven one of my previous cars ('88 535iS) on Bridgestone Blizzaks (the original ones) and on dry pavement at normal road speeds these things were extremely scary. Perhaps others are better but the blizzaks were so bad that I only used them in the snow or ice. When the snow melted the regular tires went back on. That meant much more than 2 tire/wheel changes per year. It doesn't snow every day in DC so the SP5000s would be far more capable of handling dry (and wet) roads for the 2 or 3 months of the year you have the non summer tires on the car. Tom PS Not to bash the blizzaks, their performance for what they were intened was quite remarkable i.e. in snow and especially ice storms. To my pleasant surprise, I found these to be excellent dry weather tires. Perhaps, because you probably wouldnt want to run these in truely snowy climates, they are more of a winter tire with a dry weather bias. As such, I had no problem using them from dec - March, and they did perform admirably in the small amount of snow we had here in Metro NY. But, this also speaks to all seasons. I mean, the fact is that if these ever prove to be insufficient for someone because of their climate, than All Season's certainly would fail. And I found them to be every bit the tire in the dry that any all season I've ever used was. But, then there are some people who use the pilot sports all winter, so....! _____________________________ Paul Elliott '99 Alpine White M3 <25000 mi Forged M dbl-spokes; Rotex pads; Dinan Stage II Supercharger; Stygar Short Shift kit and Clutch Stop; Skaggs Pedals; X-brace; Sound by Kenwood Excelon, Polk, JL Audio -----Original Message----- From: Thomas E. #10. Yet another M3 for sale... - from Chester Wong

Date: Thu, 16 Nov 2000 22:02:27 -0800 (PST) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: Yet another M3 for sale... Wow...a few pages later in Autoweek (p. 63). Here's your chance to buy BMW history. The old #10 PTG E36 M3 is for sale. This is the car Bill Auberlan drove at the BMW Club race during Oktoberfest where he didn't do qualifying so he started dead last. After three laps on the Road Atlanta circuit...he was in first. This was the beautiful white/yellow car that I saw them backing out of the top level of the trailer. I would have taken a picture, but I was in shocked with awe. $100k. Where do I send my other check? LOL! Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Calendar - Get organized for the holidays! http://calendar.yahoo.com/
