When I called the dealer to schedule a appt they said "I bet you have about 35,000 miles on it". When I said no, actually 18,000 they were very surprised. Is there any cost for this inspection or is that inspection 2? Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 14:55:02 PST From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] Hey, that's not Vanos noise! Ever since about the second month or so of ownership, I've noticed a "kerlump" five seconds of no odd noises "kerlump" five seconds of no odd noises, etc. It almost sounds like when you tap four of your fingers on a desk, in succession. All along, I've assumed this was the vanos/marble sound people speak of... Not so. I've been stuck going to a laundromat lately, so as I was sitting in the car reading the latest Roundel, I noticed that the sound was there, without the engine running. I thought it may be the interior fan so I turned that off, nope. Still there. It only went away when I had the ignition on I (or whatever it is when the radio works, but nothing else). Everything runs fine so I'm really not worried in the least. Just curious... Anybody know what it is? Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 15:07:37 PST From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: [E36M3] So. Cal. M-heads I've debated posting something to the bimmer.org list, but I'm afraid of who might show up so... I know a lot of listers are headed to Laguna Seca for the weekend, but it's looking like there's going to be a last-minute drive planned for tomorrow in the Ojai Valley area. So far, it's only a few of us from this list that are going, but it's always great to meet new people. If anyone else is interested and available, email me directly and I'll give you the info. Obviously not a race or anything, just a few people getting together to enjoy some nice twisty roads and scenery, and, if I get my way, a few big meals (gotta build up that winter insulation layer). For anyone who's interested, as long as the winds/road debris are at a minumum, I can guarantee that you won't be dissappointed. The only catch is that I'm leaving work in an hour and won't have access to email again before the drive. If one of the other people who are going want, they're welcome post that they're going so that people who get this message late can contact them for info. I mean comments beside the fact it might be considered sacriledge to deploy Asian parts in a bimmer. Pro's/con's? Dennis 97/4 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! There is a limit on how tight you should go & they type of clamp you should use. Simply tighter isn't always better. If you are referring to the precision, atomization & consistency of each metered dose of fuel, that is not a problem until the injector size becomes so large (oversized for the application) that pulse width becomes ridiculously short at idle. That pulse would have to be so short that the injectors never open completely (or long enough) to get a "clean" fuel spray started. Then atomization & metering is a problem. If you're injectors are that large, you've seriously got the wrong ones.
