The Snap-on truck in your driveway is a dead giveaway that you've been a naughty boy. Luckily my Snap-on dealer goes to my church and his kids go to the same private school as mine. Most of my tools come home hidden in Alex's (devil spawn lunchbag boy) backpack. Or I 'make the buy' in the church parking lot while my wife has choir practice. Then there's Ebay.... Apparently the Zainos stuff is good on certain types of paint. With the Glasurit paint, it tends to cloud up (at least it did on my car). So I've switched back to Blitz wax. Beats me why a spark plug is worth $23. I'm not buying them. coming a bit late here... As I understand it, the F7LDCR is what's spec'd for the 95 M3, whereas the FGR8KQC plug is for 96+ M3's. On my 97, the manual indicates the cheaper F7LDCR plug, but when I actually pulled one out, it was the more expensive FGR8KQC plug. That's what I put in when I replaced the plugs. Andrej '97 M3

I had them balanced, and the dealership told me that they were fine. So... I am selling them. They have AVS Intermediates on them right now with about 5k miles on the tires. I can either sell these or buy two new ones. I really don't care which. Make me an offer. You pay shipping. Pictures available on request. One wheen has the slightest nick on the edge from the car wash. Cant tell unless you are down there cleaning them. Also, can anyone recommend a new set of wheels for me? Brent

Date: 27 Nov 2000 11:45:01 -0800 From: dholeman@spooze.com Subject: What would you do? In preperation for installing a new motor I removed the motorsport strut brace and found that the shock towers have taken quite a beating this year. It looks like the force from the camber plates has creased the top of the shock towers. www.windycitybmw.com/temp/rshockmount.jpg www.windycitybmw.com/temp/lshockmount.jpg The metal is not cracked through but the paint is chipping on some of these creases. It is fair to assume that the tower has been weakend and more likely to crack through. Given that this is pretty much a dedicated track car do you all have any suggestions or options I should consider. I have noticed that for the PTG prepared cars they cut the top of the tower off and weld on their own plate. What do folks do about about this? I can't imagine that it is that uncommon. Your suggestions would be appreciated. David Holeman

It looked great, but was the biggest pain in the ass to apply. DISCLAIMER: I have never used Zymol products...just heard a lot about them. Not trying to insult anyone's intelligence or anything like that, but is Zymol really that hard to apply on a surface that has been well prepped (clay, paint cleaner, etc)? Assuming a properly cleansed paint, perhaps some people are using too much of the Zymol stuff? Also, the stuff has to be wiped off before it tries, correct? Perhaps people are waiting for the wax to haze where they shouldn't be? Or maybe you guys aren't getting the real Zymol? Just curious. BTW, John, what do you use on the Porsche now? Thanks, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. http://shopping.yahoo.com/

Your suggestions would be > appreciated. I had this happen with my 95 M3. The symptom for me was a very noticeable scrunching sound going over bumps, cornering, etc. The problem was diagnosed, and fixed, by Mike Perkins at Bavarian Machine Specialties here in Houston. They're a great shop, pretty much all the local club racers and track junkies go to them, me included. The fix involved first pulling out the suspension, then using some sort of a tool to pull down the deformed area of the tower. Then, they used an insert that BMW added to this area beginning in the 96 model year, but instead of just bolting it as BMW does, they also welded it in to provide additional reinforcement. Mike told me that he'd seen this on other E36 cars, especially those which are tracked. - Rich

Oh, it's really that hard. I'll allow that I may not have been applying the Zymol (yes, the real stuff) in the 100% best manner, but I also don't believe I was that far off the mark. And the paint was well cleansed - having only been Zymoled during at least the prior six years of its life. I just think it's too much effort for the result, no matter how nice the result is. > Just curious. BTW, John, what do you use on the Porsche now? Unfortunately, nothing.
