I seems that the #316 O-ring used to seal the bulb to the housing isn't carried at any local place. This o ring is 1 1/4 od, 7/8 id and 3/16 thick. Fine. McMaster -Carr sells them in a bag of 100 for about $6 plus shipping. I'm wondering if anybody on these lists has a couple of them so that I don't have to buy enough to do 50 cars. E mail me off list. Thanks in advance, Rich 95 M3

I've got news for you, you really can't use the oring. It's too thick and would pull the bulb too far out with respect to the base of the housing. Instead, I used some silicone sealant to seal everything. The bulbs should outlast your car =) Basically, you want the top of the base of the bulb to sit against the back of the base of the housing. You see what I'm getting at? Chester > I'm getting ready to do the Ford HID install and need some help. What is the earliest build date for US M3s? I saw one with a 1/94 build date and the owner said it was sold as a 95 model. I think Jim C's car was a 5/94. I remembered test driving one in 9/94. So, the 95 model year was really a "long" year, accentuated by the short 96 model year. No, I'm trying to take Dec *off*, and you're not helping <bg>. Between a trip to Chicago & the holidays, it was already going to be a busy month. But seeing as Sears is only 33 miles from my house, the car has a new catalytic convertor, still has the track pads on from last weeekend, and I'm working from home today (i.e. I'm getting some of the "Home To Do's" taken care of :-)), I may show up after all. Sheesh, I'm such a pushover :-) Cheers, Jim Bassett - sore arm from being twisted so much :-) 1998 M3/4 - what better place to break in a new cat than the track?

#8. More Parts for Sale- E36 - from BL5194@aol.com

Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2000 14:13:39 EST From: BL5194@aol.com Subject: More Parts for Sale- E36 Welcome to friday. I've found more parts in the garage that need to go. Please email me if you have any questions or offers. 1. (4) 17x8 IFG A5 wheels with Continential 235/40/17 Sport Contact tires. These wheels were machined slightly different than a normal A5 as a prototype for us. The spokes and all the edges are slightly more rounded than a normal A5. We think that they are the best looking IFG's we've ever seen. The wheels have also been profesionally polished. They are in great shape with no rash or track use. The tires are at least half tread depth. I'll also include a few spare center caps. $1200 OBO and split freight. 2. (4) 16x7 BMW "bottle cap" wheels. Stock on a 96 328i (non-sport package) The wheels are perfect, but I don't remember about the tires. The wheels are in L.A. area. $500.00 OBO plus freight. 3. (1) 3.73 Limited slip diff. This is a perfect donor diff to do the change over to a 3.73 in your E36 diff. THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE E36 DIFF, but it is what you will need to build one. The ring and pinion is an easy bolt in for any compatient trans. shop or mechanic to do. Asking $600 plus freight. 4. (4) Racing Dynamics RGS 18x8.5 wheels with 235/35/18 Michelin MXX3 Tires. I had them on my list yesterday. Please email me if you are interested. These need to go away NOW. I'll try to work a good deal for both of us, but my 19"s are on the way. Thanks and have a great weekend. Brian Leib 98 M3/4

#10. Rear Axle Tramp - from Lee Hassig
Top
Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2000 15:31:39 -0500 From: "Lee Hassig" <lhassig@earthlink.net> Subject: Rear Axle Tramp Folks, The recent shortish thread about shocks recently made me wonder if worn rears are responsible for the rear axle tramp I often experience on autocross launches. It happens if I rev the engine to 2500 RPM or so then feed more throttle as I let out the clutch. Shocks are stock with 55K miles on them, hardly any of which are AX or track miles. Anybody else have this problem? Any solution other than starting less vigorously? Thanks, Lee '95 M3
